Question about Honeywell HE220A1019 Whole House Humidifier Humidifier

1 Answer

I have a Honeywell H220a humidistat and have everything hooked up, but I cannot get the wiring to work. The wiring diagrams do not include the selanoid that comes with the humidistat. Any suggestions. The wiring diagrams that came with it do not help. Mike

Thanks for your question Mike,
The wiring for your humidistat and solenoid are fairly simple, you will need 24volt t-stat wire, you have the two wires at the Solenoid, one wire goes to the terminal board at the furnace, it connects to the (c) or common terminal, the other wire connects to one leg of the humidistat, run another wire from the other leg of the humidistat, to either the HUM terminal on your furnace circuit board, make sure its not a 120v leg, should say in the owners manual, if if is or your not sure, connect that same leg to the (w) terminal at the furnace, this way it only comes on in heating mode, some models need a second 120v-24v transformer, but you would still wire it through the same way, only exception is that you have to hook up 120v to the transformer, and route your wiring like I told you above but through the transformer to complete the circuit, hope that helped you out Mike, please let us know, thanks again, mr.grzz

Hello, in order to turn your humidifier on with the furnace the 120 volts coming from your humidifer you must hook it up to a step down transformer, then the transformer will provide 24 volts to you humidistat and solenoid valve. So you need a wire from the HUM on your control board to transformer primary side and a wire from neutral on the board to primary side of transformer. Then you need low voltage wire from secondary side of transformer to humidistat from humidistat to humidifier.

A breakdown diagram of parts etc above.

Shows you the HE360A.
To me it sounds like it is wired incorrectly, the solenoid should NOT get too hot at all. The PDF above shows wiring data.

I have a Honeywell House humidifier HE 225A-1006.

In order of probability:
1) (incorrect wiring) Make sure that humidistat is in SERIES wired with the furnace.
2) (shorted wires) Check that two wires to humidistat are not touching...use your glasses if you need them!
3) (bad humidistat) disconnect the humidistat and put an ohmmeter accoss the two terminals when it is turned on you should read 0 ohms, and when off it should read infinate ohms, if not pass both these tests, you need new humidistat.
That is it, there are no other possibilites!

Wiring Honeywell TrueIAQ w/ a non-powered Honeywell humidifier

the soliniod requires 24v to open so if you dont have the power then its not wire properly. Are you using a current sensing relay to allow the humidifier to only come on whe the fan is operatin? if you do have 24v on solinoid and its not opening then you got a bad solinoid. sometimes the humidistat will be a universal, for a power humidifier . A bypass requires external power and the humidistat will need to be switched to BYPASS to regonize this

Humidistat installation question

I suppose you are looking at the do-it-yourself model. Depending on the wire that is run up to you Regular Thermostat from your furnace. You may have to run a seperate line for the Humidistat. A digital thermostat that does Humidity and Temperature is recommended. Or you could just place a Humidistat near the furnace room. A wiring diagram will come with the Humidifier discribing the different ways to wire it.

Wiring problem

Sounds like you may have put 120v through a 24v solenoid and humidistat.
Is the HUM terminal on the furnace 120v or 24v?
If it is a 120v terminal you will need a 120x24v transformer and a new solenoid and maybe a new humidistat.
