Question about Samsung SyncMaster 913N 19" LCD Monitor

Error message Hi, i hope someone can help. I have an error message on my screen which ios moving around. It says - 'not optimum mode. Recommended mode : 1280 x1024 60Hz'. Sure it must be something simple but nothing responding and without the screen I can't re-load the driver or anything. You will have guessed that I am not very up on technology and would really apreciate a simple solution. Thanks Kathryn

Re: error message

I have had the same problemen ( I am from the Netherlands ). Used this monitor for 2 years and a couple of weeks ago, the screen went black and it showed the same warning ( 'not optimum mode. Recommended mode : 1280 x1024 60Hz'). This happened after changing the resolution to 1024x768, but the screen kept showing the error after changing back the resolution. Since that moment the screen was black and never worked again properly. When I called the Samsung Helpdesk, they said that this series ( 913N ) have a defect, which could cause the monitor to stop working properly. You should call the service centre and see if it should be repaired, while you still have warranty. Big chance that the problem is IN the monitor and not in the software or settings.

Re: error message

Kathryn, In the lower left, under the screen there is a row of buttons... One is labled "AUTO" have you tried pressing auto and if so does anything happen?? If not try pressing "MENU" first and then "AUTO"... What we are attempting to do is to get the monitor to accept the current settings so we can get the screen up and then deal with changing the resolution... In a Windows operating system the resolution is changed by going to "START" - "SETTINGS" - "CONTROL PANEL" - "DISPLAY" and in that window click on the "SETTINGS" tab and reset your resolution. This one might take some better communication that emails - because it would be easier to know in real-time how the monitor is reacting as you input various things... You can give me a call at 360-642-4993 or we can set-up a live chat. I'm assuming since you were able to place this post you have a second computer to work from? Bill

What happen when you hook this monitor up to other PC that has the video setting 1280 X 1024 60 Hz? Just ant to narrow down the problem before opening up the monitor. You may have logic problem in the logic board. If it does the same with other PC, then open it up and inpsect the inside for such thing as failed caps on the logic board or on the main power supply board, I think more likely to be ROM chip on the logic board is scrambled.

The unit displays 'Not Optimum Mode 1280 x 1024 using vista

Ok, try another setting say 1024x768, 800x600 & see if that helps, what this means is for whatever reason "Windows" thinks that the current screen settings, aren't the best, for what is being "Run".

Basically its telling you to change to the correct resolution. You may have it set too high. If you go into "Safe Mode" you should be able to bring it down. Or if worse comes to worse, uninstall and reinstall your video card. Just make sure to have the drivers available.

Monitor stops working and box start floating around on screen with "Not Optimum Mode -- Recommended Mode 1280 X 1024 60 Hz." Replacement monitor works on computer.

check if your monitor has an auto-adjust button, this will help you autoadjusting the recommended resolution so that there are no problems, if not, you can try to rightclick on windows desktop and go to properties>configuration, set the resolution there

Error message on Samsung SyncMaster Monitor 19"

Hi There!
I had the same problem some time ago and I have managed to find a very useful website where explains how to fix it!
The solution comes from a Spanish Forum site, originally written in Spanish! Using Google translator you can have the step by step solution in English, although sometimes the translation is not too accurate!
I have managed to get my screen back to life with a total expense of 25p and 15 minutes of my Life!
Just cut and paste this link!

I hope this helps!
Good Luck!
