Looking for a replacement for the folding mechanism of a p&t vibe 1

The folding mechanism has broken on 1 side. The plastic cover on the metal T-bar that holds the large plastic clips has broken. Now the metal id digging into the plastic when I clamp down the plastic clips to lock the pram in place

You can make it release by pulling up on the metal bracket where the cable attaches under the seat at the back in the middle.

The one-hand fold mechanism is not working on my stroller (purchased in 2007). When I slide and squeeze it does not engage the plastic tube covers to lift up to allow the stroller to fold. One side was...


  • Unfortunately there is no adjustment for this. That guide bar goes into plastic clips that release when you pull on the handle. They break from time to time. It is unfortunate but the is no real repair to them. It is a bad design in my opinion. Sorry.

My bugaboo won't fold down. I think that the spring is broken on the push button on the handle that you press to fold over. Is there anything else that I could look at to try and fix this.


How to fix a Bugaboo Handle Locking Mechanism

If you are not the handyperson type, take these instructions to you local bicycle mechanic or small engineering shop.

The cause of the Bugaboo handle fault is due to two small plastic pins shearing off a plastic disk inside the plastic hub. This disk activates two metal locking rods. Why Bugaboo uses a plastic disk for this critical component is beyond me. The disk’s two plastic pins move the locking rods in and out of the inner hub engaging and disengaging the outer hub. You need to either repair the disk by drilling out the pin stumps and finding a metal screw you can fit / glue in or replace with a new metal disk fabricated to last a lifetime.

The lock mechanism is very simple; a wire rod rotates the plastic disk that moves the lock pins. Before replacing the disk, check the hubs for wear. If too badly worn or damaged you will have too much movement in the locked position. Both the Frog and Cameleon use the same plastic hubs so you can find an old frame and salvage replacement hubs. A single aluminum rivet holds them and this is easily drilled out.

1/ Remove the domed star lock. This is the hardest part of the job and most people try to lever this off in the hope of reusing. The first problem is you mark or damage the surrounding plastic, the second is the star lock isn’t intended to be reused and will not hold as well. It is best to find a new replacement - normally sourced from a hardware store on indent.

The quickest way to remove a domed star lock is to carefully cut a slot in the dome with an angle grinder and then use a large screwdriver to gently prise up one side high enough so you can fit a second screwdriver underneath without marking the plastic. Note. The walls of the aluminum shaft the hub rotates on are thin and easily distorted, make sure you only lever the domed star lock and not the shaft. Use the first screwdriver to support the second screwdriver as per photo.

Note it is best to open and repair one side at a time, so the moving and flexing one side of the handle does not dislodge parts in the other side. The hub and disks are mirrors of each other and not interchangeable. The side with the brake lever is left; the Bugaboo parts will have an “L” after their serial numbers.

2/ Reassemble handle locking hub and check operation. If the wire rods seem to be out of position, loosen the top plastic fittings where the handle extends from by removing the small self-tapping screws and wiggle things into alignment. (I use a small amount of the grease used for taps to give a smoother action) If all is working well fit the new star dome on the hub shaft and tap home. To protect the dome finish I use a large socket from my socket set and an old rubber washer from a toilet cistern. Repeat operation on the other side.

I have available kits with (left & right) laser cut metal disks with stainless steel pins and two new star dome locks. Cost is $150 New Zealand plus shipping. If you would like a set, my contact email address is below.

First pry out the small rubber feet in the plastic end covers. There are three of them. The plastic cover near the fold out leg can be fully removed by unscrewing the two screws, one expossed by the leg being folded out and the other exposed by the rubber feet being removed. Remove the other two screws from the second plastic cover, do not try to remove this cover. The display metal cover has three small holes along the side. Using a push pin press in each hole releasing the well designed integral spring latch at each location. You may hear them click as they release. Small rubber pads inside the assembly help separate the covers as they are unlatched. The display cover with display will lift straight up off the latches but just enough to be able to hinge it on the flex connection to one side. You will have to rest it against something as you repair any broken solder connections of the audio jack.

When closing up the Archos case do everything in reverse order from the above explanation. A helpful hint is to lay the Archos on a flat surface and slowly guide the display cover onto the latches so they just slip evenly inside, watching to insure the connector baffle and power button also slip inside the cover. When everything looks evenly engaged you can press the cover compressing the rubber pads and latching the metal covers together. replace the screws, plastic cover and rubber feet and your done.

When folding the Vibe some important things to remember are that the handlebar must be in the most upright position (perpendicular to the ground), nothing can be below the rear axle level (ie. lift the basket up above this) and the front single wheel should have the side with the attachment bar on the outside.
The fold locks will not engage if everything is not in the correct position. If everything is in the correct position the fold locks will easily engage/disengage. If everything is NOT in the correct position the fold locks will not engage and should not be forced.

Folding:
  1. Put handle bar in upright position.

  2. Undo the side lock clips. Then you lift the red lever on the side to start the fold. Fold so that the pram front wheel and handle come together.

  3. As the pram folds ensure basket is above rear axle and the front wheel has the attachment bar on the outside.

  4. When the pram is fully folded you can fold the side lock clips back in place.

You have to lay on your back under the steering wheel (pain!!) and get a flashlight ..... its under there. Just a STUPID location. (close to the plastic cover aroung the steering wheel shaft)

the tab will be metal or plastic. if metal tab it will be adjustable. this tab probably got bent or broken. if you find the slot it will be about 1/4" wide and about 1/2" long, you could try to tear a peice of copy paper into a third its size and fold it up till it slides into hole, (do not use metal), if thsi fixes the issue then will closing the door watch to see what lines up with the slot, this is where the tab is.

2003 Ford Explorer back door latch will not open


Mine just did the exact same thing. The latch may be moving freely because it is not hooked to the latching mechanism anymore. In my case, the handle had broken where the handle hooks to the rod that operates the mechanism. Go to the Ford dealer and buy a new handle. Here in S.C. it was $24. You can't get this at the parts houses. Start by removing the plastic "Ford" cover that is over the liscense plate lights. You then have to remove the aluminum rivets that hold the handle to the tailgate from the outside and remove the broken latch. Remove the pull handle loop on the interior side of the tailgate (2 screws), unsnap the inside plastic tailgate interior panel, and pull down the black plastic sheeting that is underneath the panel to make access to the mechanism inside of the tailgate. There is also a hard plastic cover that you will see that needs to be pulled loose to open another access hole. Install the new tailgate latch handle by sliding back into the mounting holes and attach with two 10-32 screws and nuts. The new handle will come with a new yellow rod attachment piece on the handle. You will see inside of the tailgate a small rod hanging down, most likeky it will have the same rod attachment piece as the one on the new handle. Note the position of the yellow piece on the rod, as you will connect the new piece in the same place. Once the rod is hooked up, relubricate the metal mechanism with a light machine oil, replace the black plastic cover, replace the black plastic sheeting, (secure with a small amount of duct tape), replace the tailgate interior panel, replace the pull handle loop, shut tailgate, replace "Ford" cover over lights, and you're done!

Door latches will not close onmy Panasonic Dimensions 4 Microwave NNCT766MBPQ.They appear loose as if a spring has broken.


If you gently push up on the door latches (hook-like devices on the door) there should be spring tension. If they just flop right up, the spring is off.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.
