Question about Garden
Installed new ignition sitch....battery is fully charged...no lights on dash when key is turned. no fire and motor wont turn over
Doubble check your wiring to make sure you did it correctly. Trace out each wire to make sure it is correct. Check that you start on the hot side of the start solinoid. Check your main fuse. You may need to check your switch with a volt/ohm meter to ID the functions.

It could be a combination of things... it could be a loose earth lead from your ignitor pack or your timing could be out, check your key way that will be in the centre part of the magneto.. too see if its ok will need to remove the magneto to see the key way if its brocken it will not fire up and sometimes will back frie through carb if its bad enough, also check your gap between the ignitor pack and magneto should be around the .20 too .25mm by feeler guage...

Testimonial: "Thank you. I will give that a try. It will take a few days because the part will have to be ordered from Sears."
Check your starter fuse..follow ignition wire to starter..there is a fusable link inline. make sure u have power all throughh line to starter. :)

Take the starter cover off, look at the Plastic/metal gear. Is it in the up position on the flywheel, if so, the starter is not operating as it should. The gear should come back down out of the flywheel area. When the gears stay up like this, it causes the flywheel to be in a bind. The starter has to have the bendix to shift the gear up into the flywheel to turn over the engine. This is a common problem when a mower will start sometimes and hesitate like it don't have enough of battery power to turn it over, but in reality, it's binding and will burn the starter up if you try to start it too much.

Check your seat, drive safety switches. Can you turn the engine with jumper cables attached to the starter? It won't start, but should turn over, one of your safety switches is not working.
