The charger is not charging the battery. It could be the battery is dead or the laptop motherboard has a problem that wont allow it charge the battery OR it is a DELL and you are not using a DELL factory charger

Power schemes battery

Chances are that your battery doesn't / wouldn't hold a charge anymore. The laptop runs off battery power. When it is plugged in, the AC power "goes right through the battery", to support the laptop's operations. When the power cord is unplugged, and the battery doesn't hold a charge, the laptop will shut down, as your battery is (too) low to continue supporting the laptop's operations.

The easiest way around this problem is to get a new battery for the laptop.
If your battery is (quite) new (and a Lithium battery), you may wish to see if you can "revive" the battery's "life" ... first by depleting the battery (completely), then charging it (until it shows it is full, plus a couple more hours), and repeating this process a few times. If you're lucky, the battery will slowly/gradually start to hold some charge, but, don't expect it to be very long.
The (preferred) way to use re-chargeable batteries is to charge it fully, unplug it from the external power source, use it until it is depleted, then plug in the external power source to charge it up (fully) again .... and NOT to keep it on a power source all the time.

Battery light on nothing else

Has there been ANY damage? Have you tried another Cord/Charger with the EXACT same power specs? Has the AC jack been damaged due to pulling on the cord while plugged it? Unplug, remove battery, plug in, try to reboot. Has it been overheating? Fan, vents, heatsink clean?

My battery light is off.

The battery might be dead. Batteries only have a useful life and after that they have to be replaced.

Does your laptop work ok off the AC Adapter Power Cord? If so, your battery is dead and your power cord is good. If the laptop does not work off the Power Cord then either your Power Cord is bad or the DC Power Jack where the power cord plugs into the laptop is bad. In either case a good battery will not charge if the power cord or the DC Jack is bad.

Check your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the compute. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Hi

Can you please try to leave laptop switched off
plug in laptop and leave until the light on front goes green or at least 2/3 hrs

then unplug power cord
switch on laptop and use it or leave it until it looses all power and switches off

then recharge until green

when battery is fully charged always un plug and use on battery power
until it reaches about 10% before recharging

some people even remove their battery to preserve it if they always use power cord

if this does not sort the problem please come back to us

many thanks

When I unplug the printer from my Dell Latitude D610 laptop, the battery icon appears on the bottom right hand corner instead of the "ON AC power" icon and the computers shut down due to a low battery....

Your AC power supply is not providing power - The printer is supplying your laptop with power via the usb port. When you unplug the printer, the laptop runs on battery until it goes dead. You will need another AC power supply,

Good Luck

Dell inspiron 1526 has problem (plugged in ,not

Hello there:
First you will want to ensure that the power cord is fully inserted at both the laptop and all the connections for the cord and that it is getting proper power. and check tosee that the connector thatthe power cord goes into is not loose if so this will have to be repaired
next remove the battery from the computer and unplug the power cord and then press in the power button for 1 minute than if this has a reset button on the back use a toothpick or a small item and pressin on the reset button for 30 seconds
now insert the power cord (NOT THE BATTERY YET)
and turn on the computer and it should now start up if so insert the battery and leave charge for 1 hour than you should be ok from here ok
Please keep me posted on this so i can assist you if needed.
Best regards michael
