On and off button doesn't conect

Unplug you unit. Try spraying the switch with electronic spray cleaner you can get a Radio Shack or any auto storeelectricdime_1.jpg. The switch contacts may be dirty. After spraying the switch move it back and forth several times like you on turning it on and off. Then plug it in and see if this helps.

My Bissell ProHeat steam cleaner won't spray water. The accessory

Under the plastic under the water tank (its a pain to pull apart to get to it) there is a solenoid that actuates the water between the floor and the tools. This is toast if its not spraying the floor, its simply not reacting to the signal to let it go through to the water side.
Seems to be a common problem with the Bissell Proheats. You can order a new one online for about $12 and try to get to it to replace it yourself (if you can open up the base its obvious which part it is if you just follow the hoses).

Kenmore upright vacuum model 116.35923500. not rotating when on. Easy way to clean without taking apart?

There is a switch that tells the cleaner that the upright is locked upright and the beater bar won't spin until you depress the foot release and tilt the cleaner. This switch mount is poorly designed, its just sitting in a pocket at the pivot of the cleaner. I had to double stick tape it in the pocket to keep it from moving around and put silicone spray on the pivot. The pivot actuates the switch, but its a bad design.
  • Remove front cover, to do this, pull out the bag, remove the screws under the bag and on the outside. 12 screws total.
  • Locate switch on pivot
  • Confirm mounting of switch, re-adjust and use tape or epoxy.
  • Reassemble and test.
  • This is for a Kenmore 35923500 upright direct drive.

Hoover Steamvac Upholstery Cleaner will not spray water.

In my case when I pulled the trigger on the upholstery hose I barely got a drizzle of water. After looking at the parts online I realized the valve assembly on the spray end of the hose consisted of a black valve housing, with an inner spring and a white plunger part that sprays the water. The white plunger should move noticeably when the trigger is pulled. Since all 3 part of that valve assembly were replaceable I decided to try and take it apart. First I removed the 2 silver screws on the cover of trigger end of the hose and lifted out the valve assemble. The white plunger part was basically frozen in the black valve assembly. Tried pulling the white plunger out by hand wouldn't budge. So I use a pair of plier and pulled the white part out. Sure enough the whole inside was caked with what appeared to be old dried cleaner. I rinsed the spring and the white plunger. There were o-rings on the white plunger, I did not remove them but used an old tooth brush to clean out around them then reassembled. The white plunger now freeing slides a noticeable distance when the trigger is depressed and getting a large V shaped spray pattern. Lesson learned, I will now make sure I run plenty of plain water through the hose to rinse all the cleaner out after using it .

Bissell carpet cleaner sprays with every forward motion.

Check the valve at the bottom of the tank to make sure it is opening and closing. If ok, there are some relays, one may be stuck open.
