Have been thrown away do we have any recourse for this product as she says that she paid a lot of money for it. the product was purshcase at Canadian Tire.

open hood and check pcm wiring harness its located in the left back end of the engine compartment looking at it from the front of the vehicle. the wiring tends to become very loose

If it's the check engine light, (see owners manual) make sure the gas cap is tight, and if it doesn't go away in a day or two, get it scanned to see what error the computer has found. (I would also look at the oil and coolant levels to be safe)
