The ssb frequency will drift until it warms up> also the frequency counter will jump around

sounds to me like a bad PLL chip. but then again, I'm no Master tech myself.

You'll need to connect Frequency Counter to C252 & adjust:
USB Frequency: 10.6975Mhz adjust L126 in receive mode
LSB Frequency: 10.6925Mhz adjust L127 in receive mode

a normal problem is a diode on the solder side. near the pll by the rf shields normally resoldering that diode will restore the freq operation.

Could be a bad crystal. Could be a bad PLL. When a CB is Oscillating I recommend they take it to a tech with an oscilloscope to have it repaired. You have to be able to set the mixers and an oscilloscope is the only way. This is the most technical part of the CB (front end)
