Perform half test page & check for the ghost image. If half test page not showing ghost image go for 2. (Half test page:while printing open the door, take out the cartridge, remove inside paper gently) 1. check with another cartridge
2. replace teflon sleeve if available or replace fuser assembly..

RICOH FW740 is printing with a ghost image. Can I clean it myself?

Ghost images appear on the printed page because of bad cleaning blade or improper charging of the drum unit. Ghost images appear on the next printed page if cleaning blade does not clean the drum surface. Drum/ photoconductor is very sensitive to light, so special care should taken while pulling it out. I have canon lbp 2900 printer when i print first line shadow is also printed in the middle of page and middle line shadow is also is printed in the last of page. and some of line shadow is also printed.

Repetitive ghosting defects like this are caused by either a bad drum in the cartridge or a damaged or worn fuser assembly. Try a different cartridge first, but make sure you print at least 50 pages to make sure that any toner residue is cleaned of the fuser in the printing process. If the defect is still there then you will need to either repair or replace the fuser.

Ghosting

Normally ghosting is caused by a bad fuser.
Put paper in the manual feed tray(tray 1)
Print something. As the paper gets 1/2 way into the printer, open the cover..
Look at the paper. If there is no ghosting, the fuser is bad. If there is ghosting, could be a cartridge drum.
Follow these steps print a Print quality troubleshooting page to identify which print cartridge is causing the issue.
  1. Open Toolbox .
  2. Click the Help folder, and then click the Troubleshooting page.
  3. Click Print , to print the page. The page prints five bands of color, which are divided into four overlapping sections. By examining each section, you can isolate the problem to a particular print cartridge. Figure 4: Print quality troubleshooting page bandsc01417618.gif 1 - Yellow 2 - Cyan 3 - Black 4 - Magenta

Halfway through the page the printer prints a ghost image of a portion of the top page in the middle or bottom of the page

You can try three things:

1. Try different paper, sometimes depending on humidity levels, paper will get damp and then it can cause these problems.
2. Try a different cartridge as you could have bad toner.
3. Your fuser, the most likely cause if not heating properly.

Xerox 6350 prints ghost page every page printed. It is printing a ghost imge of the previous document printed on every page.

If the ghost is black then you might have a bad Black Developer 116-2011-00

If the ghost is in all colors then it may be your fuser, or possibly just your paper settings. (If you are using glossy paper or card stock this needs to be fed from the MPT tray and defined correctly in the control panel)

Good luck!

Hey Robert,
Sounds like it could be in need of a maintenece kit. The ghostinf is usually caused from the fuser or transfer roller. And that would also apply to the band down the page.

HP LaserJet 1012 Printer prints ghost images

I ran the hp toolbox "cleaning" mode too and it did not help the problem at all. I still have a dark smear concentrated in the middle of the page, and ghost images repeated lighter all the way down the page.

HP LaserJet 2100tn prints ok but with 3 lines of strange characters over image

Is your transfer roller clean?
How does the drum look on the toner cart?
Is the fuser getting bad?

Would you consider this an old image that is ghosting?

Ghost images

Is it from the most recently printed page, or is it the same image avery time regardless of what you print? It sounds like your drum or roller (I'm not sure about the exqact term in english) might be the issue. Have you somehow managed to "force" a printing without paper in the printer?
