Question about Blaupunkt Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

Have a Florida RD 168 Model Car Stereo Unit w/CD player....the On/Off Button (Glowing Blue Button on left side of unit) has a bad contact/connection and needs to pushed multiple times to turn on unit (finding and pushing a limited sweet spot). Any suggestions on what could be the problem and how I might fix this annoying glitch on an otherwise good unit?

There is a "brand new" faceplate on Ebay right now and I looked at the schematics for the faceplate and looks like it might be a microswitch instead of the rotary encoder.

thanks for the heads up.....price seems to be a bit high for this item given the fact that the unit is almost 10 years old. I will see if they will take less $$$ or I will try to fix the loose connection in current faceplate. thanks again....really appreciate it.

I wasn't able to access a parts explosion for the stereo but more than likely the stereo either uses a rotary encoder/pushbutton combo or two separate switches. The push button has probably worn out and requires replacement. Face plates are not that complicated when taken apart and you can try to wedge something in between the knob and the switch to give you more travel when pushing the power button, which might help the issue.

thanks for the input.....will check this out to see if it just might work....don't know where to find a replacement button for this unit.....any ideas? Thanks kindly.

I don't have any suppliers that carry Blaupunkt parts in the US, you would need to go overseas or try to find one on Ebay for parts. If it's not a proprietary part you may be able to match the part up on Mouser Electronics or another distributor.

You will need to hool up the blue and white wire will need to be connected to the amp turn on in the vehicle. Hopefully you are using an installation harness to make your job easier. The vehicle has a small amplifier in it. it does need to be turned on when you turn on the stereo.

GPS systems are standard features in many new vehicle . A GPS system communicates with satellites to provide directions through unfamiliar locations. However, older vehicles don't come with GPS, and many drivers purchase aftermarket systems for their vehicles. Installing a GPS system in your vehicle can increase its value and help make traveling a much more enjoyable experience.

Instructions And Materials Needed Below.

  • Plastic putty knife,Flat and Phillips screwdriver set,Wrench set,GPS system
  1. Slip the edge of a plastic putty knife under the edge of the radio face and lift the plastic housing off. Most aftermarket GPS systems incorporate a radio or CD player to replace the old stereo.
  2. Loosen the bolts on the left and right side of the stereo and pull it gently out of the dashboard. Unplug the connections at the back of the stereo and unscrew the mounting bracket on each side.
  3. Connect the mounting bracket from the stereo to the sides of the GPS system. If you've purchased the correct GPS unit for the make and model of your vehicle, the bracket will attach with just a screwdriver.
  4. Plug the wires into the back of the GPS system and slide the unit back into the dashboard. The ports on the back of the unit will be color-coded to correspond with the proper wire plugs, so there is no confusion when connecting the unit.
  5. Secure the GPS unit by inserting the bolts back into the bracket and tightening them with the wrench. Replace the plastic cover over the face of the unit and press it down until the plastic holders click into place. Turn the vehicle on and follow the instructions on the screen to program your new GPS system.

Good Luck.

I have a 1998 Pioneer head unit to put in my car. the #is 1256237179. Is There anyway to get a diagram to see how to hook it up?

Hi there,

Well you can please follow the below steps -
1. Disconnect your car battery. It is vitally important to your safety that you never work on any type of electronic in your car with the battery still connected, as this puts you at risk for electrocution.
2. Remove the old stereo by taking off all the dashboard panels surrounding your stereo, sliding out your old stereo head unit, and unplugging all the wires that are connected to the head unit. Discard the old stereo.
3. Take your Pioneer car stereo head unit and plug each of the positive wires from your car speakers to the positive terminals on the head unit. Take all of the negative speaker wires and connect them to the negative terminals on the head unit.
4. Attach the stereo's black ground wire to a metal bolt or screw located near where the stereo is mounted in the dash.
5. Connect all of the ignition power wires to your Pioneer stereo.
6. Take the harness connector and plug it into your car stereo. Now plug the antenna into the back of your head unit.
7. Slide the stereo back into the dash, screw it in place, and replace the dashboard pieces you removed earlier.
8. Reconnect your car battery, turn the car on and test out your new Pioneer car stereo. Please post comments for more help or information..........

Good Luck!!

RCA RP-9515 stereo, CD player won't play

RD probably stands for "Reading Disc" and ND probably stands for "No Disc". If the CD player doesn't recognize any discs, then either the laser is dead or the motor has died. MOst likely you will have to replace the unit.

My first suggestion is to not purchase "used" electronics from eBay. I bought the same kind of unit from eBay... and mine is broken too. I got a cell phone, car stereo, and a remote.. they were all not working properly when I received them.

Did you try the restart button. It is a small, pin size button on the right-side of the unit near the 4-way select buttons. My player wouldn't eject a cd either, and when I pushed the restart button with a pin, the cd ejected and the unit was ok for playing cds... that's about it

Mitac Mio 168 sound - adapter 2.5 to 3.5 mm jack

I believe there is something wrong, its a normal stereo socket.
I use differend 3.5 to 2.5 adapter (standard, from the shelf)without any problem to connect an FM Stereo-Transmitter.
The best solution to connect your car radio, its wireless.
