I got the same computer and had a similar issue! I ordered the recovery disks and saved all my files and erased everything on the computer and inserted the recovery disk and ran it! It took quite some time but it was like I just got the computer new.

What makes you suspect the Graphics? What OS are you using? Any updates? "windows never completely boots up"? Clarify a bit. Can you do a restore/recovery?

SOURCE: cant see anything but white screen after bootup

Plug in an external monitor and use the F key with the FN to toggle between lcd and external monitor. On my laptops It is the FN and F5. If the external monitor works the problem is the the inverter board, the flex ribbon cable or the LCD. If the external monitor is also messed up then the problem is probably the video card/ motherboard.

SOURCE: When I start Giga Pocket

This one took me a while to figure out as I had the same problem.

The answer is rename/delete the D:\GigaPocket directory and restart GigaPocket. It will regenerate the directory and will work fine....or at least mine did.

Have fun

SOURCE: windows will not start up

choose start windows in Safe mode, if it starts then everything will look big, don't worry about that for now. Then go to Start>accessories>system Tools>system restore and choose a date when you know that everything was working normally, when it has finished restoring the computer will restart. If asked choose start windows normally.

I hope this helps

Sony vaio touch screen stopped working

XP and Vista Normal Mode Start your computer as you normally would. Click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Go to "C:\ Program Files\Sony\Setting Utility Series." Find and choose the "VCCPointingDevice" folder in the "Setting Utilities Series folder" to open the "Built-in Pointing Device" dialog box. Locate the "Enable" box on the "Built-in Pointing Device" dialog box. Check the box to enable the Vaio touchpad if you wish to use this device. Disable the touchpad if it is interfering with the external mouse. Uncheck the "Enable" box if you have a USB (PS/2) mouse connecting to your Vaio and wish to use that instead of the built-in touchpad. Pick "Yes, I'm Sure" when prompted to activate your choice, then close all the windows. Windows 7 Normal Mode Launch Windows as usual. Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Mouse" > "Pointing Device" to open the Vaio touchpad control center. Uncheck the "Enable" box on the "Pointing Device" window when you wish to use your external mouse. Check the "Enable" box on the "Pointing Device" window when you want to use the Sony Vaio touchpad. Make sure the external mouse is not interfering with the touchpad if you have one connected. If so, unplug the mouse from your computer. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the "Pointing Device" window. Close all other windows. XP and Vista Safe Mode Restart your computer. Press the F8 key before the Windows welcome screen appears to enter Safe Mode. Click "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Add/Remove Programs." Find and delete all software for mice and pointing devices. Restart your computer in normal Windows mode. Proceed to next step if the problem persists. Restart your computer in Safe Mode. Right click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. Choose "Properties" on the drop-down list. Pick the "Device Manager" tab in the Properties window. Select the "Other Devices" folder and click on the "+" sign besides it. Delete all the devices under this "+" sign by clicking on the "Remove" button next to each of the items. Restart Windows in Normal Mode. Once Windows is operating, there will be a "New Hardware Wizard" pop-up that will load all the necessary drivers for the touchpad, mouse and other pointing devices. This should fix the corrupt driver for your Vaio touchpad. Windows 7 Safe Mode Reboot your computer and press the F8 key before the Windows welcome screen appears to enter Safe Mode. Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Device Manager" > "Mice and other pointing devices." Click the touchpad icon. Choose the "Driver" tab and press the "Uninstall" button. Press the "OK" button to confirm. Restart Windows in Normal Mode. Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Device Manager" > "Mice and other pointing devices." Choose the "Driver" tab and press the "Update" button. Press the "OK" button to fix the touchpad software.

I have sony vgc-ra-834g, computer working in past no problem, i turn computer on in boots up and stops and montor indicates that is out of range, anyone?

It means your system display card settings are too high for your monitor. Boot your system into safe mode and set the display settings lower. When you boot your computer, before it shows the windows loading logo press F8 to get into safe mode. When windows loads right click on your desktop and choose properties. depending on what operating system you have, after poking around you should find a setting measured in hz, in a drop down menu, and lower it (60 hz is usually the default for most monitors.)

Hello, I have a Sony Vaio VGC-V3M and I have just a black screen after starting it. I can hear windows loading, and I get the vaio logo, then the Windows XP logo but then blackness. I can get the Bios...

If you can see the windows logo and get into the bios then it is not the graphics card.

Most likely cause is the os itself, just after post press F8 repeatetly until you have the boot mode page open and choose safe mode, in safe mode do a system restore, goto start bar, programs, accessories, system tools and system restore, and start from a resent restore point. This can can take a while, so be patient and let the computer restore itself until you have the windows screen up.

If the restore dosent work, goto safe mode again, right click on my computer goto properties and enter device manager, in there under display adapters click on the plus sign and uninstall the graphics card, reboot. hope this helps post back if need farther help.

My sony vaio vgc-js160j has a blue screen, shutdown and then restarts

When booting press F8,or your button to get to the Screen that has Safe Mode etc on it..then select 'Disable Automatic Restart on System Error'

Maybe it might be a Memory Fault or a Startup Program causing this BsoD.

You might then try to run your PC in Safe mode and look for Programs you installed recently.

Hope this helps

Have a Sony VGC-RB60 Series PC. Got back from

Try the booting from the windows cd and repairing the os? if not working you may need a fresh install which means you will lose your data but your pc will still work. You can always download from www.ubuntu.com and burn the os to a cd rom and boot from cd, this will load a verison of linux, When cd rom starts chose RUN LIVE CD, this will not change the pc at all, when the os starts up you can go to places at the top and go through all your windows files and save the ones you want to keep to cd or external hd, then reistall windows, or who knows you might love linux and enjoy something thats free :)
