Will playing my PS3 damage my Plasma?

I'm interested in buying a plasma, although I heard that they can burn images when playing video games into the screen. I was wondering if this is true and if there is any other additonal cons to buying a plasma as oppose to an LCD?

Yes it may be true although it depends how long you play videogames for long periods of time straight and yes plasma screens do wear off after 3-5 years so honestly..... i would not recommend one.

Precautions Concerning TV Screen Damage (Image Retention)
Some televisions can be damaged when a stationary image is maintained on the screen for long periods of time, as this could potentially "burn" the stationary image into the screen. This image retention can result from a variety of sources, including test patterns, VCR on-screen programming screens, or picture-in-picture boxes. Playing video games with stationary images or patterns, or leaving video games on hold or pause, may also lead to this type of damage.

Before using your Nintendo system with any TV, especially front and rear projection type TVs, be sure to review all documentation included with your TV to find out whether video games can be played on the TV without damaging it.
When taking a short break, place the game on pause and turn the TV off until you are ready to play again.
If you are not sure about your TV, contact the manufacturer of the TV for more information.
Neither Nintendo nor any of Nintendo's licensees will be liable for any damage to your TV.

Projection TVs (front and rear):
Due to their design, front and rear projection TVs can be more susceptible to image retention. Remember to be sure to review all documentation included with your TV to find out whether video games can be played on your TV without damaging it.

High-Definition TV's (HDTV):
Projection style HDTVs display the image in much the same manner as other type projection TVs and as such, the same possibility of image retention exists. HDTV's that use a tube screen should be no more susceptible to image retention than standard TVs that use a tube screen. For either type of HDTV, follow the precautions on this page.

Plasma TVs or LCD Screens:
We have no information on Plasma TVs or LCD type TVs. Since image retention is a variable of the TV, please check your TV manual or contact the manufacturer directly before connecting any video game system to your television.

Yes, you can play PS3 on your plasma TV without worrying about "burn in" problem. Just don't pause your game for a few hours.

I hope this helped.

Is it safe to play ps3 on a Plasma hdtv flat screen lcd?

LCD and Plasma are two different types of T.V.s to my understanding. I know that televisions have came a long way since plasma were first introduced, but most of the time leaving a plasma on can burn the still/moving image into the screen. It is best to be safe and not sorry, and just shut off the T.V. when not in use.

Should i play my ps3 games on my new plasma tv?

Most plasma's to this day prevent the image from being burnt into the screen. I would say yes because it makes gameplay amazing, but to be honest look at your plasma's manual and see if there are any dangers to image's being burnt. If you hook up an HDMI cable and run HD you shouldn't have a problem.

I run my computer on my 61" Plasma as well as my television, PS3, and Xbox 360 and to this day i haven't had any problems.

Hope this helps and I hope you get the chance to play on your plasma! You won't be dissapointed! please don't forget to rate, Thanks! :)

Is it ok for me to connect my ps3 to a plasma television to play video games

If your plasma is newer then about 3 or 4 years ago, AND! it's had a proper break in, then no... no worries at all... You might get a little image retention, but it'll go away after a couple hours... If it's a new plasma, make SURE you have given it a proper break-in (about 200 hours of non-static images)... FWIW... I have a panasonic TH-42PHD6UY that I use for all my gaming (except PS3 cause my LCoS set is 1080p and plasma isn't), and have used it ONLY for gaming for about the last 2 or 2 1/2 years... I've NEVER had a problem with burn-in....

PS3 + Plasma TV

Don't worry, since last generation plasmas almost solved problem with luminophore burning out and some models are equipped with kinda screensaver if picture stays still for a certain period of time. If you will not keep one picture hanging on screen for DAYS, nothing will happen.

Plasma Burn IN

It's actually similar to the old screen burn in you'd see on very old CRT televisions and monitors. You can play your playstation on it, just make it a point not to leave it on the same screen for long periods. For instance, if you pause the game, turn the TV off until you're ready to continue.

Plasma Burn In only happens if you leave the same image on the screen for an extended period. Just don't do that, and you'll be fine.

Use of PS3 on Plasma TV's

I was worried about burn in when I got my 42 inch plasma a year ago. I read reviews and suggestions saying that you should not play games on it for the first couple months of use on the plasma TV's. I actaully stayed away from games for about a month on it and I have been fine and have never had any issues. I have a cheaper model as well so I would guess the expensive ones would be even better then that for burn in.
