SOURCE: system does not see new video card

ok, finally got a vision tek radeon hd3650 to work on the gateway gt5082 machine. i tried like so many to disable video and add a digital card to run a new lcd display. had many problems and took several hrs of try and testing. funny thing is i was trying so many things out of frustration im not sure exactly what the final steps to get it working were. i would try this first. 1 remove the existing nvidia 6000 driver via device manager. shutdown the pc and unplug. 2. reboot and go into bios. set init video -> to pciex slot. Also change the escd option to reset extended info in bios. - this is what is causing the conflict with the interrupt assignments. 3 add the new video card in pciex slot and connect the digital monitor and cable. Fire up the pc. This should now work. Any questions just ask. cbc

Hi, excuse my poor english. How can I disable onboard video on a Lenovo M55e 9632AE2? Thanks in advance. Markus Brandl

There are two ways to disable the onboard video:

First Option:
When the machine boots up, watch for instructions such as "Press to enter setup, bios, configuration, ect." Within the BIOS setup should be an option to disable to onboard video. This can usually be found within an Integrated Chipset Features section or a Video section depending on your BIOS. Be careful though, messing with settings that you don't understand can affect your computer negatively.

Second Option:
Assuming you're disabling the onboard video because you have installed a video card, access the device manager by right-clicking "My Computer" and click Manage. Select the Device Manager on the navigation pane on the left, then expand the Display Adapters section. Right-click on your onboard graphics adapter and then click Disable and you're done!

Problem with onboard video of a compaq sr2032x

The onboard video card is actually set to secondary when you plug in a PCI or PCI-E video card. If no video image is showing then there may be further damage inside the mother board.

I am installing a Video-228pci-twin video card and need to disable the onboard video port. Jack H. Jholdridge@dennys.com

The best way to disable the onboard VGA is in the bios settings. So find in bios settings the peripherals or the video section and disable the onboard video.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

Check your BIOS - there should be a setting in there to disable the onboard video. You shouldn't need to use a jumper to disable this.

Go to the device manage and instead of disabling it, uninstall it. Then power down, move the cable to the pci port. reboot, when windows brings up the new hardware found, hit cancel until it disappears. Go back to device manager and if it has re-appeared uninstall it again and go about your business.

Video controller disabling

That model server comes with onboard video. If you wish to use a PCI video card then all you have to do is place it in the server and the BIOS will automatically disable the onboard. If it currently has a PCI video card in it, just remove the PCI card and you should get the onboard video again. Hope this helps.

Hp compaq dc5000 small form factor

Hi, uninstalling the onboard video will only be reinstalled by Windows next time you boot up. Disabling it in the Device Manager might and mght not do the trick if your mb is set on using the onboard. You might want to try and disable the onboard video in the CMOS/BIOS set-up. In some instances, you are asked in the BIOS what video will be used such as onboard, AGP or PCI or a selection of something like that. Also you can try and not allocating any memory to the onboard video. Hope this be of some help. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck.
