No video Hi, am trying to set up my son't tv, this receiver and his video game machines. We switch the tv to input 2, hook up the game video out and audio out to the receiver inputs and we get sound but no video. What am I missing? The tv is set to channel 4.

Re: no video

Is the video cable composite or s-video? the output from the receiver to the sets line input (1,2,3,s-video) must be the same on most receivers. If the game console uses composite (yellow rca connector) to the receiver, the same cable must be the same from receiver to TV. Some receivers do "up convert" to s-video or to Progressive scan (red, green, blue rca connectors) and do not follow this rule. Yor set needs to be switched to the correct input as well. None of the receivers I have services thus far hve the 75ohm cable lug for RF. Check all the cableing and repost if you find something new or different.

I would check your input settings. If everything is hooked up through hdmi, make sure that those inputs are set for hdmi audio, not digital or analog. If it is a setting problem, you might be able to reset the unit and fix it, but you will lose any settings that you may have had for other things.

Yamaha rx-v2500 receiver how to hook up speakers

Follow these steps to connect a powered sub woofer to your receiver: You typically have two options when connecting a powered sub woofer. Input (1) on the rear of the sub woofer would be used when connecting the sub woofer to the receiver using speaker wires. You would then connect the main speakers to the opposite end, or output or the sub woofer to the main speakers. Option (2) would be using RCA line level output jacks, input (2) on the rear panel of the sub woofer directly to the single sub woofer output on the back of an AV receiver. blank.gif

Just plug the Red,Yellow,White into the receiver in one of the inputs. Doesn't really matter which one they are labeled just to keep it easy to keep track of.But for ease lets do video one. There should be two sets within the video one input. Put the PlayStation on the set to the right and then run the identical red white yellow from the tv to the set on the left within the video 1 box. Tune your reciever to the Video 1 channel and then the tv to what ever input you have it on probably video 1 as well and your son will be good to go.

Have blu ray player and dishnetwork hd receiver hooked up to receiver with hdmi cable. getting picture from both and sound from tv but not thru surround speakers.

Sounds like you have both inputs going into your receiver correctly since you're getting the right picture. Your problem is the output - are the speakers hooked up to the output on your receiver? Is the receiver switched to the right setting? Many receivers have settings so you can switch what inputs are on at the moment. Try looking at the back to see which input they're on and make sure the audio portion of the receiver is switched to this as well.
These are the most common solutions. Hope it helps!

Just fixed this myself - made my head hurt to figure out. 1. Switch to a setting (say DVD). 2. Watch the AVR screen as it switches. You'll see the audio and video settings. For example, Audio = DVD, Video = DVD (Mine showed Audio = DVD, Video = DBS even though is was set correctly using the SETUP for audio and video)3. Under the round control knob on the left, push the (tiny) Video Select button. 4. Turn control know to choose the correct video source
Your system should work right. Mine did.

Unable to get ps3 to play when hooked to receiver

The audio inputs on the receiver need to be set to receive the Optical signal on the switch you set the ps3 to. ie Game, DVD, AUX. Each switch needs to be set to receive the audio signal coming into it. Usually on the remotes setup feature.

1st time using component video connections on my onkyo

Yes, switch to the video input that you are trying to configure (i.e. video 1-4). Press the menu button on the receiver or the remote and cycle to video settings. There should be a setting that says "video output" or "output" - set that to component. You may also have to configure the Input for that particular setting. For instance, if you have an HD tivo going into component 2 but you want it to be Video 1. Select Video 1, hit the menu button and scroll to video setup. Select video input setup and cycle it to component 2. Next, use the menu to cycle to video setup, select video output, switch to component. This should solve your problem. As a sidenote, you may also have to configure the audio in/out if you're using digital coax or optical. Let me know if this works.

Need help connecting Receiver to TV, DVD, VCR players

Take the audio outputs on the TV set and connect up to the The video 1 inputs to the receiver, BUT use the audio part of the video 1 input and leave the yellow video input blank. Now turn on the TV set, put the TV set on a channel, turn on the receiver and select the video 1 input and you should have the TV audio coming from the receiver. Good Luck.
