I installed the wireless brother printer and 2 days later when I turned it on to print it states low temperature, allow to warm up... soooo I waited several hours and the message is still there, the display is flickering and it does not print or even turn off. So I unplugged it. The next day I plugged it in to see if it still said the same and it beeps several times and does nothing, Also the Fax button was lit up. I still can't turn it off and pushing buttons just makes it beep. What happened and is there any hope of fixin git?? Also office max won't take it back because, although I recieved it as a christmas present, it was bought over 14 days ago. Do you think brother will take it back and send me a working printer. I only actually printed 2 documents before it broke!!!

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles. If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, thenprint head needs replacing, but it may be expensive. It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.
A Warranty does not cover blocked print heads.
Poor Line Connection indicates an issue with your telephone line (Page 136). If you are sharing the fax line with any splitters or computers, try connecting the MFC-490CW directly to the phone jack and send a fax. If you are still getting a Poor Line Connection error message, call the telephone company and have a repair technician check your telephone line.
Out of Memory error message means the machine's memory is full (Page 138).
Try pressing Stop/Exit and wait until all current operations finish and try again.
Try clearing the data in memory. To gain extra memory space. turn off Memory Receive (See Page 48).
Try printing the faxes that are in memory (See Page 49).
System Busy error message wasn't in the manual, but I suspect it means there's a current operation in progress and the machine needs time to finish before moving on to another job. Just wait for the current job to finish, then try again.
You will have to reset the "Path" to the printer, so the "Client" PC can find it. EG: \\MSHOME\Brothermfc, also ensure "Sharing" is enabled in Properties on "Main" PC. Also ensure you are all on the same "Workgroup" & PC's have a "Name", and the "Printer" is installed on the "Client" PC too. and you can print a test page from the clients too..
My brother MFC490-CW is connected wirelessly to the router. It printed OK wirelessly yesterday when I set it up but today it will not print. The printer has a strong wireless connection to the router. My PC also has a strong connection to the router. But the printer seems to have lost the connection to my PC. How to I re-establish the wireless connection from the printer to my PC?
try and shut down the printer by holding down the power button for a few seconds, then turn it back on. You can also try rebooting the router. You have to do that sometimes because it has the automatic sleep mode.
If you have installed something since yesterday you might want to use system restore. the program might be causing the flaw. If not dont worry. You will need to uninstall the printer from your printer page and reinstall it. depending if it is a networked printer or a usb connected. If networked all you have to do is follow the install wizard. but if it is a usb you will have to go to the company's website and download a printer driver. after that it should work. dont forget to restart your computer. sometimes that can help too.
