Question about Bose Lifestyle 35 System

Open Question

Optical audio output from Apple TV to Bose System 35 Optical input used to work but now not working. It had worked and I have checked Monster Optical Cable, as well as the Bose input and both worked with other devices. I went to Apple Store and got a replacement Aplple TV box and that still did not solve issue. Is this a software problem with Apple TV'sfeed to the Bose Optical input.

SOURCE: hooking up a Bose Lifestyle 30 II to an optical audio output

Actually, you can do this. Just get an optical to RCA converter.
This looks like a good one: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-40019-Optical-Converter/dp/B0002GV876/ref=pd_cp_e_2

SOURCE: I have a Bose lifestyle system that is about 10

The only outputs that can carry audio from your Apple tv are the HDMI and optical ones. HDMI is out - an 10 year old system will surely not have it and if your Bose doesn't have an optical in connector then you will need to use this
http://www.hdtvsupply.com/difiopttodic.html
It comes with the required optical cable; you will need to buy an extra stereo RCA cable.

SOURCE: Is it better too hook up a optical audio cable

Hello, its always better to go the shortest route this would be ps3 right to the bose there are too many menu variables ,circuits, that would be involved if you involve the tv output as well. that theory applies to video as well always go directly from source to load without any additional switches (circuits) when possible.

SOURCE: I try to plug apple

You might want to try connecting the Apple TV to your TV using HDMI, then using the optical cable from your TV to your Bose system. In your TV's settings, there should be an Audio Output option. You'll want to turn off the TV speakers. Optical audio can be a little strange compared to traditional analog. If your cord is going bad, it could result in behavior like you described.

Connect the optical output from your TV optical out to the optical input on your Bose system. From that point on, any audio that is sent to the TV from any source or input will be played back on the Bose system.

No optical output except when using ipod dock on tv

Unfortunately, there is a limitation on the JVC LT47P789 digital optical audio out. This audio output does not get the signal from any HDMI source. This is described on page 49 of the user manual. The manual is available from JVC here: http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/01/14/YA653ien.pdf . There is a similar restriction for the analog audio output from the TV with the HDMI inputs.

If you use the component audio/video inputs on the TV from your set-top cable box and DVD player, then the optical audio output will work. Otherwise, you need to find a way to connect the audio directly to the receiver. Some receivers have multiple HDMI input ports. These then forward the video signal on their HDMI output to the TV. Another option is to connect the analog audio outputs from the cable box and DVD player to the receiver. This may require resetting the Audio output from these set-top boxes to keep from sending the audio over the HDMI cable. With the Cinemate, you might need some sort of audio input switch or an HDMI converter and switch that separates the audio from the video signal.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your devices for ideas on how to work-around the problem with this JVC TV.

Trying to connect to LG 60 inch plasma. no output

Hi.

You need to connect the Bose using the Optical Audio output from TV to Bose main unit (kind of square shaped connector), and not using the RCA inputs on TV.

The picture below is an LG back panel, the optical audio connector is at the lower side of I/O connections at the back of TV, on some model the location of connector may be different.

Pretty much the same problem

I have the same system. I have a Lifestyle and a Sony TV with a Samsung Blueray player. I also have an X-box 360, plus my pc with all my CDs (I-tunes) plays through my bose. Do this:

1. Use the optical cable for the blueray player to the Bose (AUX).
2. Use a digital audio cable from the cable box (either black or orange output) to the Bose CBL-SAT digital input. (it's a single audio cable)
3. For my PC, I'm using a digital cable from the pc to the Bose. I'm using the TV output because it's empty.
4. For my x-box (which I'm not too happy about) I'm using regular red-white audio cables from Bose TV input directly to the TV audio out. (You can play all of the above through this channel, but don't).

I figured the most important high quality sound should come from the blueray player and from watching regular cable tv. For picture, you should be using all HDMI connections.

Hope this helps.
