I could not pull the bobbin off so finally unwound all the thread from the bobbin and was able to remove the empty bobbin. I wound second bobbin and had no problems. When I wound a third bobbin, couldnt get the bobbin off. It seems that something is snagging a thread and preventing the bobbin from releasing.

  • I suggest checking the bobbins that are get stuck on the spindle and see if they are warped or damaged some way or it could be the notch on the spindle is catching some how.

You might have to use some force but not enough to break
the bobbin winder spindle. it's also possible that there is something
wrong with the bobbin for it to get stuck on the bobbin winder spindle
like that.

I am having the same exact problem. Something is obviously very wrong with the bobbin and/or the spindle!

I managed to get the bobbin off the spindle by unwinding all the thread from the bobbin. It may have been wound too tight. Now I'm going to try to rewind the bobbin but going much slower than I did the first time. I hope this will let the thread wind with less pressure so the bobbin doesn't get stuck on the spindle again.

Singer 3232 machine was sewing fine now motor runs but needle does not move up and down

Check if the machine is in the bobbin winding mode. To wind the bobbin, the bobbin spindle has to be moved to the right. (The hand wheel will not turn if the bobbin spindle is in this position.) If it is, move the spindle to the left.

If the hand wheel turns, then check for a thread jam. Remove the top thread and take out the bobbin case. Gently turn the hand wheel forward and backwards until the thread comes free of the hook in the bobbin race. Follow this by cleaning any lint from the bobbin race of the sewing machine.

The last possibility is that the belt has failed. This belt transfers the energy from the motor to the needle bar. One source of the belt is http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/motor-belt-singer-007158xxl5.aspx . You can find YouTube videos on changing the belt. There are other parts that transfer the forces form the belt to the needle bar. However, I suggest you find a good sewing machine mechanic if any of these parts fail.

The manual has good pictures of the bobbin spindle on page 11 (page 18 of the PDF). Singer has the manual on their support page: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/e06cb85928ace9753f1a7124f4a2df6168ffecf0.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Brother 1100, was sewing , now it is froze, cant turn the wheel far either way, cleaned, wants to go but is stuck, I cant see any thread in bobbin plate but I think that is where issue is advise

You could check the bobbin winder shaft. If this is engaged the machine appears to have frozen while turned on. Move the bobbin winder shaft left, then right while checking the foot controller and you will soon know if this is the problem.

Can I fix a broken bobbin winder on my Janome sewing machine by myself?

If your bobbin winder is malfunctioning and you are unable to resolve the issue, for ~$25 you can purchase a stand-alone bobbin winder at the local fabric store (JoAnns or Hancocks) or even online (Amazon).

How do I turn off THE BOBBIN winder on a Bernette 65 sewing machine?

The bobbin spindle needs to be moved to the left in the slot to disengage the winding mechanism. (It may be easier to do this with the bobbin on the spindle. The bobbin and spindle should be moved to the right after putting the bobbin on for winding.)

The directions and pictures for winding the bobbin are on page 30-31 of the manual. The manual is available from Bernina on their support page for the out-of-print Bernette machine manuals: .http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Out-of-Print-Manuals/bernette-manuals/Bernette-Sewing-Machines . The direct link to the Bernette 65 manual is here: http://www.bernina.com/getdoc/6d2754b8-af09-4edb-a6a6-7a4c57965b8d/bernette-55-65-80e-90e .

I hope this helps.

I just inherited another Huqvarna (this is a model 630). It was working great until I wound a bobbin on it. After I removed the filled bobbin the machine won't move the needle up and down (but the bobbin...

I do not know the Husqvarna Viking 630. However, I have used the Viking 6690 and it has a similar on-the-side bobbin winding routine. I suspect that you failed to move the bobbin winding mechanism back into the sewing position. Look closely at the area around the bobbin winding spindle. It looks like there is a lever below the spindle. Does this need to be moved or rotated? Double check the steps in the manual and check that you did the opposite steps of preparing to wind the bobbin.

On the 6690, you pull out a knob after removing the bobbin. (You push this piece in and put the bobbin onto the now exposed spindle for winding.)

I hope this helps.

Singer 362 bobbin

It appears from the manual (see pages 9-10, which are on 11-12 of the pdf version) that it is necessary to disengage the hand wheel (loosen the center knob) with the bobbin winding lever all the way to the left, before putting the bobbin on the winder spindle. Put the bobbin on the spindle, then set the winding lever to the right position to engage the spindle drive. Do not tighten the hand wheel knob until after the bobbin is wound and the lever is moved back the left to permit bobbin removal.

If you are following these directions exactly, or you can't get the hand wheel knob loose, you have a mechanical problem to solve. You may need a stronger hand to loosen the knob, or something in the bobbin winder is bent, out of adjustment, or jammed with foreign material. If you are mechanically inclined, you may want to remove the top cover of the machine for inspection.

Three possible causes: 1.Bobbin not push fully down the bobbin winder spindle
2.Need to push bobbin winder spindle to the left before you can wind the bobbin
3.The bobbin winder spindle rubber ring has worn out. This will need a local technician to fix it.
