Can i install windows-xp on my laptop which is currently working on windows-7 and use both of them.

Hi,
Yes you can install windows xp in windows 7.
Windows XP Mode is a virtual PC image of Windows XP Service Pack 3 that could be run on Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate versions. Applications installed into Windows XP Mode could be run in Desktop Mode or Seamless Mode. In Seamless Mode, applications appear to run natively within Windows 7, but they are actually running inside the Windows XP virtual machine. Windows XP Mode might also provide additional integration that traditional Virtual PC images might not be giving. Applications installed on the Windows XP image could be exposed to the Windows 7 Start menu. Applications run in seamless mode is having automatic access to the Windows 7 known folders like Documents, Pictures, Desktop, Music, etc. Also the Cut-and-paste is enabled between native Windows 7 applications and those running in Windows XP Mode. Applications running in Windows XP Mode might also access your Windows 7 network connection and USB devices.

Hi, I am having Zebra TLP 2844 barcode printer.I have installed the printer in my machine. I have tried to take barcode labels. From application, for each and every label i need to generate the label in PDF...

The TLP2844 can print from any windows application providing the application can use a windows printer driver.
The page size oof the .pdf needs to be the same size as the physical label size.

What is the difference between the Dos download and the windows download as there is 23 mb difference.

What application are you talking about?

Windows uses a different set of hardware drivers and completely different user interface software. Windows applications "call" standard methods to display menus, windows etc instead of including them inside the application. Most windows applications are larger than the dos equivalent because windows is "bigger" that ms-dos. Windows supports cutting and pasting between applications.

Dos usually has to have each application load its own drivers and its own user interface software. Often a dos application is smaller and sometimes less functional than the windows equivalent. Cutting and pasting between Dos applications is tricky and often involves "exporting" from one application and "importing" to the next via external files that you have save and locate.

Windows xp problem

Hi

It seems you installed an outdated (16bit Program) for the ScanMaker 4. 16Bit applications/programs and generally DOS based (Windows 3.x and 95) and will not run properly from Windows XP.

First, check http://support.microtek.com/product_dtl_2.phtml?prod_id=23 and download and install Drivers and Plugins for Windows XP.

You may need new 3rd Party Scanner/Image Applications that work in Windows XP. However, if you still want to use the 16Bit application then you will need to run the program in 16Bit Compatibility Mode. To do this, right-click the program executable or shortcut, choose propertise from the drop-down menu, go to the Compatibility Tab and put a tick in "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" From the drop down menu, choose Windows 95 or 98 and apply.

Finally, check the the User's Guide or ReadMe file(s) (if you have it) for more info. Especially, check the recommended OS for the Applications.

I might be wrong, but i think ScanMaker 4 has a SCSI interface. If this is correct, then your laptop or port replica must have a SCSI port. NB: SCSI is not the same as Printer LPT Port.

Regards
Mike
