Is this a webcam question ? If its a laptop power queation

Take the battery out, plug in the charger and see if the laptop works.

If it works, the battery may be the problem.

Check the AC Adapter
Check to make sure the adapter is plugged securely into the wall outlet, connected firmly to the adapter box and to the back of your laptop.

Most AC adapters have a little light in them on that rectangular box in the middle of the cord that lights up when it's getting electricity.

If that light isn't on, try a different outlet.

Check your fuse or circuit breaker box and plug a different device into that outlet to make sure there is power to it.

If it still does not light up, your adapter could need replacing.

Also check the adapter box for signs of warmth, as it will generate heat when it's plugged in. No heat means no power.

Remove the Battery Sometimes it's as simple as a seated battery.

Remove the battery entirely and clean out any dust, lint or hair that may be clogging the connectors and preventing a proper connection.

Reseat the battery securely and make sure the little locking pins that hold your battery in place are securely fastened and there is no movement.

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source.

Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer. While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards

Remove the memory modules from their slots.

Take the opportunity to clean the slots on the motherboards and the memory module connectors.

Use compressed air to blow dust away and clean contacts with a soft cloth.

Do not use a metallic vacuum cleaner if it touches any component it may create a short and cause damage to the motherboard or other components.

Do not use solvent that may attract dust and never poke things like cotton buds in to slots. lightly rub an alcohol on a cloth not to hard let the alcohol do the work on the copper gold or silver tabs and r

Allow the pins to dry.

They will air dry in a matter of minutes

If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory.

If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer.

Check the memory module and memory slot contacts.

They are either copper tin or gold.

The colour will tell you which they are.

Mixing tin and gold can result in corrosion that prevents proper contact.

Look for any sign of physical damage to the memory module, memory slots or the motherboard.

Reseat the memory modules.

You should hear an audible click when they are in place.

Do not use too much force to reseat the memory module in to the slot this can cause damage to the module, slot or motherboard.

The hardware that you are trying to access is damaged or failing.

The device drivers for the hardware are faulty or incompatible.

Could be a problem with the Hard Drive or the Hard drives PCB

There is a connection problem such as a bad cable

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have a

secure dust free connections and are not faulty.

Although it would be very rare for the sata lead to be faulty.

Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty

Computers need power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

Hope this helps.

What if disk drive does not open during system says reboot and selesct proper booot device

Sounds like you may have a CD/DVD in the drive that is stuck and/or not inserted properly. There should be a small, pin-size opening on the front plate of the CD drive. Find a large paper clip, bend out one end of it then insert into the pin-hole. Push it until the drive pops open.

Disk drive door wont open. LED light comes on an hums, but tray wont eject to open. Where is manual eject hole located?

Below the drive tray there is a tiny hole, straighten a paper clip and gently insert the paper clip into this hole. Push the paper clip and the tray will release and pop out, then pull the tray out to the fully open position.

If it still has a valid warranty, exercise the warranty to get a free replacement.

Otherwise, open the enclosure, and separate the disk-drive from the USB-to-disk-drive adapter, and connect the disk-drive as a 'slave' disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if the adapter was the problem.

Hi there my hard drive wont turn on. the power cord and usb cable is absolutley fine. I just stopped workin all of a sudden

The disk-drive has malfunctioned.

Search online for a professional "data recovery service".
For a significant fee, they can repair your disk-drive,
just long-enough to copy your files to a new disk-drive.

If it still has a valid WARRANTY, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

If the warranty has expired, then open the case, remove the disk-drive, buy a new "compatible" disk-drive, connect it, and thus "revive" your external storage device.

I have a hard drive 500g wd once i give it power it wont turn on make a noise then shuts off. did i lose all my info??

If it's an "internal" drive, it's almost dead.
Ship your drive to a professional (and expensive!) "Data Recovery Service". They can repair your drive, just long enough to copy all your files to a brand-new disk-drive.

If it's an "external' drive, then:
* the data-cable is faulty,
* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the unit is faulty,
* the "internal" disk-drive inside the unit is faulty.

You could try opening-up the unit, extracting the disk-drive, and connecting it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to bypass the possibly-faulty USB-cable and/or USB-adapter.

Won't start up

Wont starup? is a generic question and have a million answers...
but, basic reason wont start can be:
1) Bad hard Drive, or is not setup for 34 bit access on BIOS.
2) Virus
3) do a redect HARD DRIVE on BIOS , and check the belt that connect the hard disk, and cable for power the hard disk.
other than this, reinstall the OS, or change de HARD DRIVE.

Some disks on a drive will open some wont

Hi there.
If this is a floppy drive then the heads will be dirty and need cleaning just like the old tape player did.
I'm not too sure nowadays but you used to be able to get head cleaning kits for floppy drives.
Also i would suggest that when the drive reads the disks transfer your rare pics to the computer and also back them up to a flash drive or CD.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
