Question about Heating & Cooling
I dont know the exact model number or anything, i dont have any of the documentation, its a rental house. but one of the units has stopped working, and flashes an error code "E3" which i have no idea how to resolve because as i mentioned earlier, i dont have any of the paperwork/manuals relating to the unit. would anyone know what it is and how i could possibly rectify it instead of having to fork out to fix it or wait for the real estate to do so?

The model number would be on the right hand side of the outdoor unit and same on the indoor unit if it is a midwall split. If it is a flat cassette cieling type you may need to open the grill, which is simply two little levers either side of the grill, and the grill will swing open. Without the model number it is difficult to give accurate info. However, I can offer the following. One, check the condensate drain. You can just blow into the drain pipe from the outside and this sometimes clears clogged mud in the drainpan. Or two, error reading can also come from phase failure (in the case of a three phase unit) or power related problem. This can be solved by switching off the mains and then switching on again to reset. If you have a phase failure you would need an electrician to confirm that the power supply is good. Unless you have a volt meter.

SOURCE: air conditioner
Turn off unit supply and check the blower wheel inside the indoor unit by rotating it manually by your finger if the blower wheel rotates freely then there is something wrong with your fan motor or fan motor capacitor. But if the blower wheel is not rotating freely try to check the fan motor for lubrication or some bushing dried of and no oil
