Question about JVC RX-DP15 6.1 Channels Receiver

1 Answer

Rx-dp15b reciever turns on, then immediately goes into standby

It was working last night, but when I tried to turn it on this morning, It turned on, then before it would play anything, it would go into standby mode, and the standby light is blinking, and I believe it's normally a solid glow. You can turn it on and you have about 3 seconds before it shuts off again. It doesn't play at all in those 3 seconds.

Just worked on a Sony with a similiar problem. I replaced the Power Amp Drivers. They were labeled as IC's on the circuit board. They were relatively inexprensive, around $33 total. This fixed required knowledge in using a Soldering Iron and Desoldering Wick. Also I had a schematic of the circuit board which can be purchased on the internet. Hope this works for you. It might be best to just have a tech look at it, if you have no electronics knowledge.

Well - you may have. BUT try this. Turn the volume all the way down, disconnect the speakers, and power it up. If it comes up OK, you've got a fried speaker (or bad wiring). If not - yep, you fried it.

Look towards the back of the manual. You go into setup. Choose HDMI. Then there is another setting that you have to activate. The receiver must be set to the HDMI input that you want, before the receiver is turned off. I just installed my receiver last night and followed that procedure. Works great.

Yamaha RX-V750 wont power up

Check the fuse. You might have had a power surge which blew a fuse. If not, check the fuse for the socket. Reset the fuses for that socket. If it still doesn't work, it sounds like the internal boards got fried, or the power supply got fried. The power supply is replaceable, but we don't know if it is the power supply. To check, connect a voltage meter to the power supply.

Something like this happened to me. I found a new kenwood stereo next to the dumpsters, stickers and all still on it, plugged it in, it worked, shut it off to plug in a speaker, didn't turn back on, months later after leaving it plugged in, turned on, I used it, then shut it off for the night, in the morning the standby light was still on, tried turning it on, but it wouldn't for some reason, unplugged it, then the light wouldn't come on, it was once again sitting on a shelf as a paperweight, one day it randomly came on again, and now it 100% works, and I use it as an amp for my RE audio subwoofer, and its worked great since! The reason this kinda applies to you is because its kinda simmilar what happened to you. Just leave it plugged in, and maybe sometime you will walk by it noticing it works.

Enters standby after being on for only a few seconds.

Sounds like either the volume is turned up too loud, or you have a short. Have you tried disconnecting all the speaker leads from the rear, and then powering it on? Usually if it turns on for a short time and then shuts off, it is throwing itself into protection mode.

RX-V363 Yamaha Theater System

Just check your speaker cabling again. Make sure that all of them are seated properly, none is touching each other or the body of receiver. Rewire if necessary..
Are you using banana plugs for connecting speaker or just directly. Some times even a little tiny frayed speaker cable touching the receiver could trigger the protect mode. Be careful, since protect mode is sometimes not fast enough and it could blown a few trasistors in the power circuit.

If everything else seems all right and still your receiver goes into protect mode or wont tun on then it possible that there are bad connections on the main board that sets in. How old is your system? if its still underr warranty then you should contact Yamaha immidiately.

If the reciever is old and if you can solder, you should be able to repair it yourself. This should be a simple repair that will not require parts. If not, then a local service center will change the local labor rate.
Let me know if I can be of any further help. Please do rate this solution and thanks for using FixYa!

Yamaha rx-v461 not working

you have a faulty circuit somewhere, whether its in speaker wiring, or power source, i dont know, but your reciever has an automatic circuit breaker in it for protection, and a faulty circuit will trip it, i would assume it is a power source problem since it wont turn back on, check wiring, plugs and look around, and smell for burnt, or hot components.
