What are the commands to initialize scanning lamp or unit or what unit or part is faulty due to which not copying instead giving blank paper.

Make sure the document you are trying to copy is face down on the glass. This and more should be explained in the owners manual.

I get a black line when scanning, ( not when printing)how do i fix it

This is commonly caused by a mark on the scanner plate. If you place your document to scan on the scanner plate (Lift the lid and place it on the glass plate) and scan or copy the document does it come out clean? If you feed the document through the Auto Document Feeder doe the line appear?

If when place on the plate it is clean but fed through the ADF there is a line, then when you lift the lid on the scanner you will see a narrow glass plate at the end (Normally the left end) of the scanner plate. Give this glass a clean and your mark will go away.

If the scan or copy is lined when using the Flatbed scanner and the ADF then the problem will be in the scanner lamp which will be probably uneconomical to fix.

Why does lines appear in my printed copy?

If you're getting lines, especially when making copies or scanning, it could be due to some dirt on the scanner glass. Wipe your scanner glass with a lint free cloth. Then try scan or make a copy again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Printer works fine, but when scanning to copy or scanning to fax a line appears right down the middle of the either the outgoing fax or the printed copy. This when using the feed from the top of the...

If it only happens when you copy or fax, as opposed to 'printing"...clean the scanner glass -both the main glass and the narrow **** glass on the left side.

Please rate me.

Facing copying problem from scanning section

Although you didn't specify the scanner model, this solution should work.

If the scanner has a top feeder, open it.

You will see a thin strip of glass, either to the left, or right of the large scanner glass.

There is most likely a small spec of ink, white out, etc on it.

Clean the strip glass with rubbing alcohol and the line should go away.

Scanned documents are very light

I have found that when scanning b/w documents, its helpful to start with a black and white copy, not a grayscale, pen written, or printed form a printer in grayscale mode copy, but a true black and white on the copier or fax copy. The scanner doesnt read shades of black so well and when scanning multiple page documents, my pixma tends to scan in lightly. I havent found a piece of software to do just this, batch darken what has been scanned (at least not for free). Copying before scanning is the work around. Hope this helps everyone who's had this problem. It also doesnt hurt to darken what your scanning down a notch when copying
