Question about Kenmore Kitchen Ranges
Found that that error means the oven was hotter than 650 degrees. only the top coils were on. How can we fix this ourselves. unplugged stove. Finally cooled off. Plugged back in. burners all work. Oven started preheating, then smoke came from the back of the electronic board area. Unplugged stove again.

depends on the brand, most of the time its an erc (electronic range control) this can be replaced. find a appliance store near you, give them the model and ask for the price and availability of an erc. If satisfied call a tech. If a tech installs it you have a warranty... get the picture?

We had those same symptoms with our range out of the box. It was a problem with the PC board and it was fixed under warranty.
