Question about Cross Infoguard Shredder SX102M

2 Answers

Infoguard SX100M unit will not shred. Green light comes on.

Reverse works fine. The plastic clip in the paper insert slot "clicks" appropriately and there are no obvious heat marks. The unit is < 2 years old and has had very light use and has been lubricated regularly.

  • Anonymous Apr 10, 2009

shreds a few sheets then quits - backward worked initially but then neither way worked. This unit was a display model and I did not get instructions - about 2 yrs ago. Thought I could smel heat so unplugged it.

I have the Infoguard SX100M Axeus, sold by Staples.
Only the reverse was working, UNPLUG and open back cover, the paper mechanical switch was working fine, red side switch, the gears and fuse were all ok, I think something on the circuit board was fried.

Anyways, I switched the BLACK and WHITE wires with each other going to the shredder motor, thus when I switched it to reverse, it would go foward and shred. Its working now, only in reverse.

Switch the black and white just as is lsited and it works great. This take about 1 hour to unscrew, do, and test finish etc.

I dont have the original bin for an Infoguard SX100M. It runs if I hold it and push in the red button with a screwdriver. When I try to load the paper, the shredder doesnt grab it. Any fixes?

I can't imagine holding the red bin interlock button depressed with a screwdriver every time I wanted to shred something but hey, whatever works!

Your shredder does not grab the paper because an internal "page in" sensor is damaged, defective, or blocked by shredded residue.

Infoguard-10 sx100m motor runs, sounds like gears are turning , goes both forward and reverse. i cleaned all of the teeth, looks clean, but won't accept paper. i am handicapped and am having a hard time...

Hello,

When motor is running, look to see if the cutters are turning. The cutters can be seen by looking into the throat of the shredder. If the cutters aren't moving, the gears may have been stripped and shredder needs to be repaired or replaced.

Good luck...

Only runs in reverse

I just had this problem with my shredder. I think the problem started with a bin that was full. Running the shredder in reverse resulted in shredded paper being pulled up into the slot used to feed paper into the shredder. Some of this shredded paper was blocking the little plastic tab that activates the switch when paper is inserted, so the shredder would no longer start when paper was inserted. I emptied the bin and removed the shredded paper from the feed slot, being careful not to break the plastic "sensor" while removing the paper from under it. The shredder works fine now.

Royal 85x crosscut shredder stopped working

Some shredders aren't designed to shred anything more than paper. Credit cards, staples, paper clips and the like could have jammed it up. Try running the shredder in reverse and oiling the blades. More help with paper shredder oil here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Paper-Shredder-Oil

If you can't get the paper shredder up and running, it looks like you might have to pick up a new paper shredder. Paper shredders can be pretty cheap though, great guide to cheap paper shredders here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Best-Paper-Shredders

Shredder flap has fallen off -- company no longer makes part

Those plastic tabs are so pesky. They always break.

You can try taking some wire, perhaps an old coat hanger, and cutting 2 lengths of 4-6" each. Then attach the wire pieces in place of where the tabs were using heavy tape, which should allow enough flexibility to get the new tabs back in the holes.

If the tabs were bigger/thicker than the coat hanger wire, go to the hardware store (Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, etc.) and ask to see the metal rods. Then just pick a piece of the right thickness and they'll probably even cut it for you with their chain cutting tool.

I personally work with Fellowes brand shredders, but it sounds like you have a paper feed sensor issue. This may be a mechanical or electronic sensor located in the center of the paper feed slot. If it is electronic it may just need cleaning(qtip dipped in rubbing alchohol. If it is a mechanical sensor check to make sure it has not been broken or it may be stuck because of paper that has become wedged behind it(you may need to jiggle the switch a few times to free it). If none of this works you may have a burned out switch or a bad pc1.gif board, contact manufacturer for more info.
