SOURCE: Arctica pss29ngna Fridge is getting too cold

Hi, On any model of temperature controlled box, the only thing that is wired into the system to control the temperature is the thermostat. Commercial boxes can be controlled by a low and high pressure control. If the temperature will not get above what you are saying, the only thing that can be at fault is whats sensing the temperature which is the thermostat control. If you are not able to change the setting to raise the temp, its not doing its job and needs to be changed out.
Sincerely,

Veg and fruits freeze up.. Why? and what should temps be for frig and freezer?

We had this problem almost 4 yrs ago. It was the damper assembly which is a common problem w/ GEs. A damper is a door flap that opens and closes between the fridge and freezer that allows cold air into the fridge to regulate the temperature. Eventually, it breaks, allowing in too much cold air into the fridge, thus making both sides a freezer! Fixya's link that helped me is this one, which is very helpful: http://fixitnow.com/wp/2007/12/06/ge-side-by-side-refrigerator-freezing-the-beer/. You also might need to enter a diagnostic code when you replace it. Check this out also:
http://fixitnow.com/wp/2009/10/02/activating-self-diagnostic-mode-in-a-ge-arctica-refrigerator/. Don't let the description of the fridge as a GE Arctica mislead you. These are different models, but internally are the same components.

GE Profile Arctica fridge running too cold

You may want to check your damper assembly to see if the door is broken. If the door is broken it will air to migrate to the refrigerator compartment causing freezing issues. Also check to make sure that the damper door is not staying open. When you take the cover off with the door open the damper should close. If the damper is open then you need to replace the damper. Here is the damper to order.

Refridgerator will not get cold, frezzer portion works fine

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it'll be the control.

It is unlikely that a power outage by itself will cause your problem. Recheck hour refrigerator thermostat. It should regulate to 38-42 degrees F. You can take an outdoor thermometer and put it into the fridge compartment, leave it for an hour or two and check. Adjust as necessary. If that doesn't fix it, we can proceed further.
