NAD L70 stops reading DVD - need DVD unit replacement, also 50 HZ noise comes to speakers

My NAD L70 became more and more sensitive to DVD disks and one day stops reading any DVD disk. I had open it and found some cracks in DVD unit - needs DVD unit replacement but where can i get spare parts? Another problem (independent from previous one) - once upon a time 50 HZ noise starts coming to speakers and even to SUB channel.

SOURCE: disk rotating and a message "invalid disk"

you can try manually cleaning the laser lens ( gently wipe , do not press down hard , it is suspended by fine wires ) using a q-tip and a drop of that cleaning solution you got with the laser lens disc. ( fluff another q-tip a little ) then dry wipe it with another q-tip and try a disc.
you can look at the laser lens and see if you see the laser come on also to determine if that is working ( do not look directly into the laser ! )
if the laser works but it still does not read discs after cleaning it manually , then there is a problem with the focus coil on the laser or the signal board is bad

SOURCE: dvd player wont read disk

If when you insert the disk you hear a whirring and clicking noise, CD spins, and does not read, then that is a problem with the DVD lens.

The DVD lens try to focus on the DVD track, by moving lens pickup and spinning the disk, but cannot read the tracks because the lens is dirty or defective.

Try first cleaning the lens with a DVD cleaner disk. And also if you can see the lens from the outside try blowing some canned air on it.

If this still does not help, then the lens pickup may be faulty, in this case you often replace the whole DVD drive unit inside the DVD player.

SOURCE: Panasonic DVD-S35 Player H02 problem

Hi,
This problem is related to OPTICAL BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Two things are involved in this situation.
1- sleg motor start malfunctioning.
2- Optical Lens problem.

In both situations you have to replace the OPTICAL LENS BLOCK.
Therefore your DVD need lens replacement. And it would work fine again.
Thanks for using fixya.

SOURCE: Unknown disc error and whirring sound!

Do you leave the unit on all day and night on standby?

If this unit gets to hot you can experience this problem I suggest that you turn the power OFF totally until the unit cools down and try again. Normally 15 mins is enough.

I have a Samsung DVD R160 recorder. A few days ago the recorder was not on and it was making a noise like it was trying to read a disk. This went on for quite a while. I then turned it on and it would...

Try this, look for a small hole on the front of the unit.Use a pin and press in to see if it opens, ejects the disk .If no hole try seeing if you can press ,lift, pull at the door/slot while pressing the open door/eject either on the unit or with the remote control. It sounds like you may have a bad CD/DVD (copy) that the unit is trying to read/load but can't. keep trying to eject CD/DVD if this doesn't work unplug unit for 5 minutes, try open door again do press and hold open repeatedly I know it's frustrating but it just may eject.Don't use this recorder for playback of DVD buy a $30 DVD player the cheaper the better they play anything.GOOD LUCK

My 8000s has developed a hum which is audible in both speakers. When the amp is first switched on I do not hear it but after about an hours use it becomes apparent. The volume of the hum is constant and...

My first thoughts are to replace the large electrolytic capacitor(s) their will be at least two I think, as they could be getting leaky. Though they could be fully charged up on switch on (hence no noise) they could lose it as time passes and let the 50/60 Hz mains hum in (which they stop). Another cause could be a semi-conductor that has become heat sensitive. This again could be in the power supply or something that has both channels running in and out of it. This is because the noise is in both channels, so can't be something that deals with only one channel, even if there are two of them!
Replace the caps first, if that doesn't solve your problem, then get some Servisol Freezer spray and spray any suspect part (one at a time) when it acts up! If the noise goes you have the culprit.

I have the same problem. When I insert a disk, my NAD T 550 DVD player displays 'No Disc'. It started with new disks while still reading older disks, but at some time it stopped recognizing any disk. Did you receive any suggestion yet or has anyone a suggestion?

NAD T532 probem

CD and DVD disks use a different set of optics for each type of operation. Some units have a different laser for the different format types.

The fault could be mechanical alignment, calibration, or a failure in the signal and or processor path. These types of faults are impossible to guess at.

If the unit is under warranty, contact the dealer to find out how to get it serviced. If out of warranty it may not be feasible to service.
