Question about D-Link RangeBooster G WBR-2310 Wireless Router (WBR2310)

Need good router for Mac

I am setting up a new MacBook, but the wireless modem no longer works in my PC, so the Mac and a Cannon Pixima 620 and maybe an xbox 360 will be the network. What router should I buy. My D-Link WBR 2310 will not work- I've spent 6 hours on it, and don't want to drop $80 and spend another 6 hours on a router that won't play with Macs.

Hello Jodu,

Please check the internet settings of the Lan connection in the Mac Book. May be there is IP Address or DNS settings is installed in your Mac Book which are stopping the wireless network services. Please check the IPV4 settings in the Lan or wireless connection properties.

My Mac laptop connects to my wireless modem very very slowly. this is a recent problem

Here are a couple things to look at:
A.) Make sure your Mac's software is up-to-date. 1. Click the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of the screen. 2. Click "Software Update". 3. Click the install button (when it comes up).
B.) Are you using the latest OS? If you have a MacBook or MacBook Pro, you should be using Mac OS X 10.6 or at least 10.5. If you have an iBook or PowerBook (older Macs), you should be using at least 10.4.
C.) Also, have you changed the location of your laptop? Is it farther away from the wireless base station? Have you changed security settings on the device?
D.) Have you tried a different wireless router? Sometimes routers are quirky. I know that this one requires spending money. That's why it's at the end. Maybe you can borrow one from a friend.
Good luck! If this helps you solve your problem, please rate and recommend me. If not, please post again for more ideas.

I have a macbook and a pc with a cable modem and an airport extreme. I want to hook them both up so I can use the internet at the same time on the pc and the macbook. How do I do this or hook it up?

Not sure what you have tried yet, so I'll suggest the first thing to try ...
The cable modem will have an ethernet jack on it for "LAN" - you will need an ethernet cable ... plug the cable into this jack .. and the other end of the cable into the airport extreme .. and then power up the airport extreme .. if the airport extreme is new, it will set itself up automatically .. if not new, it might still set itself up automatically - look for a green light on the extreme ... if you have a green light you should be in good shape
Of course your computers have to be in range, say within about 100 feet of the extreme to pick up its wireless signal.
In the MacBook, make sure Airport is turned on - in System Preferences under Network.
Your MacBook should figure things out all by itself and you should be able to connect to the Internet.
On the PC, you'll need a wireless card if you don't already have one ...

You should be able to use the internet simultaneously and each computer should be able to share files if you want to try that (file sharing is turned off by default on the Mac, not sure about the PC)

Good luck!

Who is your Internet service provider.
You said that you are able to go online when connected the modem to the computer. So that is a good sign.
you will need to check the settings of the router.

I assume that you have a new modem in your new location. If this is the case, you need to clone the MAC address in the router setup (see online manual) OR you can reset the router to factory default state.

Problems setting up new macs and a new wireless system with a PC

The MAC address of the network card on the PC is probably registered with Tiscali. The easiest thing to do is to Connect the Belkin router to the internet, then go into the config and clone the MAC address of the windows PC. Once this is done, then you can either plug in the airport express, or configure wifi for the Macs from the belkin.

Arimex comcast router won't talk to belkin wireless g plus mimo router

Comcast has a little known "trick" that they use when setting up users. Here's how it works:

When Comcast first comes to setup your new cable modem service, they insist on connecting it to your computer and "testing" it. Most people think nothing of it, and that it's good customer service ...truth be told, what they are doing is attaching your computer's MAC address to that cable modem, so that you cannot create a wireless network. This is because they want you to pay them $150 to do this for you.

In this situation, since the modem is a modem/wireless router in one, my guess is that the MAC address on your machine now does not match the MAC address on the new router, which is what Comcast has stored in their database(s).

Try this: on your computer (while connected to the modem), perform a release on your IP address (start, run, cmd, then type "ipconfig /release"). Disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer. Turn computer off completely. Hold down the reset button on the cable modem until it performs a reset. Once it's back up and running, boot up your computer with the cable back in the ethernet port.

The cable modem should assign a new address to your computer. However, that may or may not work ...this is an easy workaround with a Linksys router, but not necessarily with the all-in-one devices.

Worst case scenario: contact Comcast and notify them that the new modem is not recognizing your computer's MAC address and that it needs to be updated in their system. They will scan your computer (through the telnet interface on your modem) and get your computer's MAC address, then (hopefully) make the necessary changes on their end.

After that, everything should work flawlessly. If not, insist on a Comcast tech to "fix" the service that you are paying for.

Good luck - hope this helps :)
