On your PS3's main screen, scroll over to Settings.  Then scroll down to Accessory Settings, and select Audio Settings and adjust the input device.

Im trying to hook up my mad catz bluetooth to my ps3 and i got it pass the scan part but it keeps saying theres a problem...PLEASE HELP

Is your PS3 seeing the Headset?
Is the headset in pairing mode?

Complete details below on how to connect it:
Pairing the Headset with the PS3

Before the Headset can be used with the PS3, the two devices must be 'paired' so they can communicate with each other. Use a gaming controller for this procedure and ensure that the Headset is powered on (flashing blue LED light) and that it is not being charged via USB cable.

1. Power on your PS3 console.

2. Within the "Settings" menu, press X on "Accessory Settings."

3. Press X on the icon labeled: "Manage Bluetooth® Devices."

4. Scroll down and press X on the icon labeled: "Register New Device."

IMPORTANT: Depending on your model of the 8860 Bluetooth® Headset, your power button is either an oval shape with an icon of a circle with a line going through it (5a) or it is a button with a phone icon (5b). Please follow the appropriate next step depending on your model of the 8860.

5a. Once at the next screen, prepare the Headset to be paired with the PS3 by holding down the K1 button until the LED flashes Blue and Red (hold K1 approx 12 seconds).

5b. Once at the next screen, prepare the Headset to be paired with the PS3 by tapping the pairing button located next to the volume controls on the side until the LED flashes BOTH Blue and Red.

6. Once the Headset's LED indicator is alternately flashing Blue and Red (indicating the Headset is ready to be paired), press X on "Start Scanning."

7. Once Scan is complete, the PS3 will recognize all Bluetooth devices within range.

8. Locate "8860" from the list of available devices and press X on its icon to be prompted for a Pass Key

9. Enter 0000 (four zeros) as the Pass Key and press X on OK

10. You should then be taken to a new screen stating: "Register completed"

Trouble Shooting

Q. The PS3 is unable find the Headset.
A. If the Headset has been paired with another Bluetooth device, the PS3 will have trouble finding the Headset. Either remove the Headset from the paired device or turn off the Bluetooth power on the paired device.

Q. The Headset cannot be activated after being charged for 20 minutes.
A. To activate the Headset, the battery needs to charge for at least 40 minutes. It is highly recommended to fully charge the battery before use.

Q. No indication of charging is shown.
A. If the Headset battery is empty or has not been used for a long time, it may take some time for the Headset LED indicator to show charging status with a steady Red light. Make sure the PLAYSTATION 3 is turned on. The 8860 cannot charge without the console being turned on.

Q. No sound can be heard from the Headset.
A. Please make sure of the following:

-Make sure that the two devices have been paired.
-Make sure that the Headset is turned on.
-Make sure that the two paired devices are within 30 Ft. (9.15 meters) of each other.

*** Do not try to pair the headset to the PLAYSTATION 3 when the headset is attached to the USB cable. If it is attached to the USB cable when trying to pair up, it won't pair with the PLAYSTATION 3. ***

My Logitech Cordless Vantage Headset won't pair with my ps3!! I fully charged it with the given adaptor, after that I followed every step in manual and read it several times, but it doesn't find anything...

I had the same issue, apperently the manual is wrong about the steps. To enter pairing mode the turn the headset off. Then start holding the middle button again till the headset turns on (green light + tone, after 5s), but keep on pressing it till it starts to flash alternating red and green (after another 5s). The PS3 should be able to pick it up withing seconds. My **** manual specifically said that the headset should be off. Which is not true.

I cannot get my Orb bluetooth headset to work. and yes before you say it im not a dohnut i did follow the instructions as they are put out but when scanning for bluetooth devices on my ps3 it scans...

i figured it out!!! you have to do the Scanning firstly then when you are asked to hold down the P button for 5 seconds and it turns RED immediately open the microphone whilst it is still RED and it will work (hopefully) then it will be registered with your ps3! (hopefully)

Good luck :)

JaWay (solution #1) is wrong. The usb cable is solely meant for charging the headset.

I had a few issues of my own. The manual is **** so don't follow that.

You mention somehting about a new PS3, taking that you have paired it before with another. Turn on the headset and press the reset button with the tip of a pen for a few seconds. The headset should now be reset and turned off.

Go to settings > accessory settings > manage bluetooth devices, from here you should be able to register a new headset. Initiate the search on your PS3. Hold the middle button for 10+ seconds. Till the led starts to flash alternating red and green. The PS3 should now be able to pick it up.
