Garmin Nuvi 350T

Why does the Garmin Nuvi 350T in a lot of cases send me down back roads some of which are very bad instead of keeping me on main roads or motorways like the tom tom one does?

You might be choosing Shortest Route and that's exactly what it will do - find the shortest route, no matter what the quality of the roads. You should try choosing Fastest Route.

Set the fastest route. The shortest route will take you off motorways and up narrower roads. Garmin satnavs know the difference between fastest and shortest.

My garmin 760 nuvi keeps freezing while using it on the road. i have updated it to the lifetime updater. What can i do? hope you can help

If you're running the latest system software on that GPS, then I would say send it back to Garmin, including all the powercords etc...
You know, they sometimes have issues with their 12 volt power adapters. You may want to contact Garmin about getting a replacement cord. That was the issue with my wife's Garmin Nuvi 200.

My garmin keeps trying to give walking direction instead of driving directions.

It sounds like your Nuvi is set on "off road". Please look for the setting that allows you to select "faster time", "shorter distance" or "off road". Your unit is probably set to "off road" where you are given directions like a compass and not by roads.

Trouble locating satellites

Hi, my name is Vince & i had that very same problem with my nuvi 200w, have you tried to update it on your pc ?, i updated mine after travelling down the motorway at 40 miles an hour thinking that their was road works after the sat nav told me. I also found that updating it seemed to increase the signal strength too, try it, it may solve your problem.

Shortest Route and Fastest Route Garmin Nuvi 200

The problem could be in your avoidance settings. I know when I was in Delaware, a 1/2 hour trip turned out to be a 3 hour detour because I had set to avoid highways.

In Garmin, if it's checked, it means AVOID. I know the documentation isn't clear but I've learned from experience (trial & error).

Sometimes it happens. Garmin isn't perfect but it beats looking at a map most of the time.

Nuvi not working properly

I had the same problem until i realized it was I myself who messed things up. What you probably did was change the settings to "pedestrian" and forgot to change it back to driving. When you set your system to pedestrian, it does not recalculate a new driving route because it assumes you can just walk there. (You can walk in any direction very easily, so no need to recalculate).

If your garmin is also sending you down a one way street, thats another tip you are on the pedestrian setting. (If your walking, you can walk down one way streets).

I am not sure however, what other types of weird things happen when you are on the bicycle setting, i havn't tried it yet. But i am positive you are trying to use your garmin on pedestrian, put it back on automobile. Let me know if it works, thx

Can I find a copy of the Garmin Nuvi 350T manual online please?

Yes. There are 3 ways to charge the Nuvi. Computer USB cable, 120VAC transformer wall plugin, and the cigarette lighter DC 12V plug for your car.
