Question about Sharp SL-C3000 Handheld
I opened my EL-6710s, the data screen was blank, so I assumed the battery was dead. Unfortunately I took the old battery out before reading the TINY print that says to leave it IN and then replace with a new battery in the second slot.
Now when I turn it on it flashes Data Problem PRESS RESET! and there is a tiny "s" in the lower left side of screen. I press reset then the screen flashes RESET OK? I press ENTER and the screen goes right back toflashing Data Problem PRESS RESET! NO matter which button I push the Data Problem keeps flashing on the screen.
I thought it might work to put the old battery back in and start over however when I turned it on, DATA PROBLEM PRESS RESET was on the screen, which was not there before I removed the old battery.
I have had this unit FOREVER (maybe 18 yrs) it has always performed like a champ, so you can well imagine my entire world is on this organizer. If anyone has ANY ideas I am open to them ALL at this point. HELP!!!!!! Please
Have you tried firmware update ?.
If not update to the latest and try reset .

You may need to reset the organizer's operating system. This procedure is not designed to delete any data; it is simply to reset the operating system.
Some default settings such as time, date, and start up displays will be lost. The data that is stored within the organizer's various applications will not be deleted.
Follow these simple steps:
While keeping the ON button depressed with your thumb, flip the entire unit over so you are now viewing the underside of the organizer. Use a ball point pen and press and release the reset button on the underside of the unit.
Turn the unit over so you are viewing the LCD display. You should see a message that reads similar to the following phrase "Delete All Data - Y/N". After seeing this message, release the ON button and press the letter "N" to indicate you DO NOT want to delete data.
