SOURCE: My Akai Mpk25 works fine on my windows 7 system.

Hello,
You would need the manufacturer's device driver for Windows XP. Although it appears Windows 7 has the driver pre-built in, Windows XP does not have a lot of drivers for modern devices.
Got o Akai's website and download the drivers and install them on the Windows XP system and you should be good to go!

Error code 43

Code 43 is almost ALWAYS a driver problem, not necessarily an external driver, it could even be one of Windows' own. There is a well-written (in my opinion) page at http://pcsupport.about.com/od/errorc/a/code-43-error.htm which discusses the error and how to fix it in simple, step-by-step fashion.

Code 43 errors can be frustrating and time consuming to troubleshoot, but take you time, work it step by step, and best of luck to you.

Code 43 Error Message

The Code 43 error is one of several Device Manager error codes. The Code 43 error will almost always display in the following way:

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Details on Device Manager error codes like Code 43 are available in the Device Status area in the device's properties

rror Code 43 Troubleshooting

  1. Restart your computer if you haven't done so already.

There is always the chance that the error Code 43 you're seeing on a device was caused by some temporary problem with the hardware. If so, a restart of your computer might fix the Code 43 error.

Note: Some users have also reported that powering off their computer completely (not just a reset) and then turning it back on has corrected their Code 43 issue, especially if it exists on a USB device. In the case of a laptop, turn it off and remove the battery, wait a few minutes, and then put the battery back in and start the computer.

  2. Did you install a device or make a change in Device Manager just before the Code 43 error appeared? If so, it's very possible that the change you made caused the Code 43 error.

Undo the change if you can, restart your PC, and then check again for the Code 43 error.

A Code 43 error is generated when Device Manager stops a hardware device because the hardware reported to Windows that it's having some kind of unspecified problem.
This extremely generic message could mean there's a true hardware issue or it could simply mean that there's a driver problem that Windows isn't seeing as such but that the hardware is being affected by.

Important: If a USB device is generating the Code 43 error, uninstall every deviceunder the Universal Serial Bus controllers hardware category in Device Manager as part of the driver reinstall. This includes any USB Mass Storage Device, USB Host Controller, and USB Root Hub.

Note: Properly reinstalling a driver, as in the instructions linked above, is not the same as simply updating a driver. A full driver reinstall involves completely removing the currently installed driver and then letting Windows install it over again from scratch.

My mpk 25 does not record long notes in Reason 5 only short poping sound. it record drums sound perfectly but string and horns long sounds a sounds like short piano sounds like popping noise. not the full...

Make sure you do NOT send the notes back to the MPK25, that is echo is off. If you echo them the data will be confused. This will be a setup in the Reason SW.

I've got the mpk25 hooked up to reason 5...when i load up an instrument it plays like normal....but when i try to add more instruments to the track i get no sound from it. But it shows that it is recieved...

Its the latechy problem that every sound application facing. (increasing RAM also fix this problem) in reason 5 go to preferences try increasing buffer size or latency number will solve your problem. but increased latency makes your keyboard delayed response. means output sound will come lilltle later. best of luck
