SOURCE: Dyson DC14 Animal belt clutch slips.

The clutch problem needs to be looked at by a serviceman or professional who can repair Dysons. Slipping belts are often a sign of being overused or with carpet/textures that have caused the beater bar extra tension. I suggest if this model means much to you to get it repaired.

SOURCE: Problems with Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Vacuum

Two possible solutions come to mind. First off, there is a clog in your hose. If you have another vacuum, try using the hose on that one to **** it out.
If that doesn't work, you may need to have the clutch replaced. Check your warranty. The clog wont be covered, but the clutch will be,

SOURCE: My Dyson DC14 ANimal vacum cleaner has lost a lot

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

A loss of suction is most likely caused by a blockage or a dirty filter. If you have cleaned the filter, it would be worth checking the machine through for a blockage by following the user guide or the diagnostics in the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

If you are still having difficulties with your Dyson, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

I have a DC14 Animal. How do we get to the belt as it has no suction at the bottom. It is fine with the wand

Hi Trisha, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're concerned about the performance of your DC14 Animal. Rather than a traditional belt, this machine has a brush control clutch mechanism, with two belts engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. These are not designed to be replaced by the user.

If your DC14 isn't picking up via the cleaner head, our online Support guide will walk you though each of the simple checks you'll need to carry out to determine the cause of the issue: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc14/dc14-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/no/loss-of-performance

Once you've completed these checks you should be able to resolve things. However if you'd prefer our experts to talk you though these checks over the phone, or if you feel a repair may be needed, you're welcome to give us a call on 0800 298 0298.

Just to let you know, our UK Customer Helpline is available from 8am-8pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am-6pm on weekends. Calls are free from UK landlines.

Loss of suction when pulling out the hose and then the hose sucks up tight. . . cleaned the filter under the canister. not sure how to do anything else. . .

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty with your DC14 Animal. It sounds as if there may be a blockage in the hose, wand or U-bend of your machine. To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://content.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=657&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

Please note, the filter underneath the clear bin does not need maintainance - so if you've washed this, you may want to email us at askdysonUS@dyson.com for further assistance as the filter may have been damaged.

Best wishes,

Jack

Dyson DC14 Animal: Loses suction when in the upright postion and I am using the wand. I have cleaned the top spongy filter. It sort of 'blows' out of the top of the cylinder if that makes sens

Hi Sharon,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual through the wand, this may be due to a blockage in the wand, hose or U-bend. The easiest way to check for this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc14/dc14-origin-iron/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suction

Although I note you've cleaned the filter, you might want to check you've washed it as shown in the video below - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Wash both parts of the filter in cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for it to dry before replacing it.

This should resolve your issue, but for any further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can help.

Best wishes,

Jack

I have a dc14 that cuts out after five mins even if just stood still i have no blockages it will switch back on after 30 mins any ideas

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. Like most Dyson cleaners, your DC14 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. This is often due to a blockage, or because the filter needs a wash. Although I note you've already checked for blockages, I'd recommend following the steps shown in our online guide linked below, just to make sure you haven't missed anything:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=626&product=DC14-ANIMAL

The correct way to wash the filter is shown in the guide linked below. The filter should be washed in cold water without any detergent, at least once every 3-6 months. Always ensure it's totally dry before replacing it - this may take up to 12 hours.

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1942&product=DC14-ANIMAL

By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've followed these steps and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you and recommend the best course of action.

Kind regards,

Jack

Each time I vacuum, animal hair and dirt collect on the Hepa filter of my Dyson Animal. It is about 5 years old. I have already replaced the Hepa filter about a month ago.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If dirt and pet hair are collecting on your HEPA filter, the pre-motor filter may be incorrectly fitted, or missing from your cleaner. To check the filter is correctly fitted, please see our online support video for this cleaner:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1461&product=DC14-ALLFLOORS_US

If the cleaner has been used with the pre-motor filter missing, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly, as the cleaner may have been damaged. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).
