Bread too high

I just got a Black and Decker bread machine B2300 and I'm making my first loaf. The bread has risen right to the plastic cover, touching and completely obscuring the window. Should I panick?

My first time baking a loaf:my bread maker lid was being pushed up by the rising dough! It is now up against the glass lid with 5 minutes baking time left. It still looks like dough and not browning....! A disappointing first trial.

I have the same problem...bread rises to high lifts the lid and stickes to the lid. I have had this machine for almost a year and it has never worked
properly. I have reduced the yeast by 1/4 tsp each time until there was so little yeast the loaf didn't rise properly and was more like a brick than a loaf of bread.

I have always been a loyal black and decker fan but this is my last black and decker product.

Try making a smaller recepe, or use the dough setting and bake the bread in regular bread pans - for a traditional loaf with no paddles to dig out.

Hi Kady,

No, I don't think you need to panic. You might encounter a little sticking to the window, but I'd go-ahead and try it, and keep an eye on it. Worst possible scenario, you have to clean out the machine. Anything more than that, and it's clearly a defective unit.

As I read the manual, it doesn't warn about this being an issue. (You _did_ read your manual, didn't you?..........(;^])

From Item #5:
"5.Look but don't open:The glass in the cover is there to monitor the
process. Do not open the lid during the baking process...."

And from item #13:
"too high - try less yeast (1/4 tsp. at a time). "

If you're still concerned, I'd try the toll-free Black & Decker recall # - - they should have info about any know safety issues.

Phone Number: 800-231-9786
(Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM, E.T.)

If I can be of further assistance, let me know. If this solves the issue, please rate it accordingly.

Thanks in-advance for using,

Bread rises too high

Try using less yeast ( average loaf needs only 1 1/2 tsp yeast) and don't forget to add salt as that will also control the rising.
Or make a smaller size bread.

The bread will rise in some spots but not the entire loaf. The loaf ends up lopsided. It's like it's not mixing properly.

Hi Darlene

I have the same machine and I wonder if your kneading parts are locked into place...i remember using it one time and the kneeding blades were not secured and the same thing happened.

Good luck..

Darlene S.

by the way...have you ever made the dough??..i attempted to make it tonight and it did not turn out..

Needing the recipe for white 3lb sandwich loaf for the all in one model B2300. Lost the manual and there is nothing online

Hi Lyndseycoone:
Here is the recipe from the manual

3 cups of water (80 to 90 F)
3 tbsp butter or margarine, cut into pieces
1 tsp salt
3 tbsp dry milk powder
4 tbsp sugar
5 1/2 cups bread flour
1 1/4 tsp active dry or bread machine yeast

1. Measure ingredients into bread pan in the order listed
2. Insert bread pan into unit, close lid. Plug unit into wall outlet
3. Select Sandwich setting and appropriate loaf size (3 lb)
4. Press start button
5. The Complete Signal will sound when bread is done.
6. Using pot holders remove bread pan from the unit and carefully remove bread from pan and turn right side up. (Kneading blade may remain in bread. Remove blade when bread is cooled.
7. Allow bread to cool on wire rack until ready to serve at least 20 minutes.

Hope this helps...

Loaf of bread...clumpy mess

Yup check those belts. Also make sure the paddle spins freely when you spin it by hand. If the paddle does not spin freely, then the sealed bearing may be going bad. Hank

Way to high of loaf

Sounds like you may need to use a smaller quantity of all of the ingredients, or exchange for a machine that makes a large loaf. Well done, most people seem to have problems getting the loaf to rise enough!

Paddle stuck inside bread

I have the B2300 bread machine as well and I have encountered the same problem as you. So, I came up with the idea of removing the paddles right after the machine has stopped mixing the dough. Whenever I bake bread at home, I tend to follow the above mentioned solution and it made my life much easier.

I have a problem with uneven shaped loaves

The paddles fit two ways, so what you must do is have them facing opposite ways, then they fight with each other and elongate the loaf
