Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

1 Answer

''unable to connect to selected network'' error

I have a Lynksys WRT54G and an old Dell latitude C600 that I can't seem to get to connect. I've been able to connect to other wireless networks with the Dell and others have been able to connect to my wireless but the two just won't connect. I've done the usual computer illiterate thing and unplugged the router hoping that would reset something and it would somehow magically work afterwards. This, of course, didn't work ;) lol!
So, since I am computer illiterate and can't afford a tech to set this up for me I throw myself at the mercy of the interweb! ;) Any suggestions?

If you can connect your laptop to other wireless and others can connect to your wireless but you cannot means that its on your laptop wireless network configuration.

If you have Windows XP, go to Start > Connect to > right click on your wireless connection and select "Properties". Choose the "Wireless Network" tab and under "Preferred networks" remove ALL wireless network, reboot your PC and then go here again and then re-Add your own wireless network only. After you Add highlight it and click "properties" button. Checked "Connect even if this network is not broadcasting and if you have put a security on your wireless to select the correct authentication type.

Then on "Connection" tab checked "Connect when this network is in range". On "Advanced" tab make sure to Uncheck "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks".

On Windows Vista delete all Preferred Networks under "Manage Wireless Networks",(under Network and Sharing Center on Control Panel). then turn off and on your pc. And then try to reconnect and make sure this time, PC will ask for network key. ( if you set it up that way )

My Lynksys WRT54G has suddenly switched my wireless connection to a generic unsecured connection and away from my own setup. How do I fix this?

Please Enter the ip address of the router in internet explorer and go to wireless security. In that window we can change the the security and can give security pin.

"unable to connect to selected network" error

Hi, May be your router is now running a more secure algorith and needs password etc which the old one can't handle. You may have to downgrade your router to the older system..not a good idea.

Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G v6. cannot connect - out of range error message

I believe you will have to lynksys for help. I had a simmular problem and had to have lynksys walk me through resettint a linksys bios problem with that particular problem. You have to change somrthing to set the bios to 10.10.10.103
Or something like that.
I believe you can find Lynksys toll free number on their web site. I also believe it to be with the documentation.
