If you have Microsoft Office, use Word.
If not I suggest using the free OpenOffice,

Writer is what you want,

Need help in using OpenOffice?

Anything generated on a computer that has OpenOffice on it, can be used on a computer that has MS Office on it.

Anything generated on a computer with MS Office on it, can be used on a computer with OpenOffice on it.

There is no learning curve. The user face of the programs in OpenOffice, look VERY similar to MS Office.

The program is free because it is Open Source software.

Forgot my password on my compaq

You can delete your password using this tool:

Just open that URL and it will download to your computer. Open the .zip file and copy all of the contents to a USB drive, like a flash drive. Then open the command prompt (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt) and enter the following:

X: syslinux.exe -ma X:

Except, instead of X:, enter the letter of the flash drive. (When you're looking at "My Computer," it should say the name of the drive with a letter like F: or G:, that's the letter you use.)

Now you have to boot your Compaq from the USB drive. Plug the flash drive into the Compaq and turn it on, but you have to enter the settings. (Every computer is a little different here, it will tell you a command for setup. Enter this.) Follow the instructions on the screen to get to the Boot Order, and move USB to the top. Then Save and Exit and let your computer start. Follow the on-screen instructions with this program and just delete the password. Once this is done, exit the program properly, restart the computer, made the Hard Drive the first thing to boot from in the settings again, and just hit enter when it asks for a password. You should be in!

If you have any other questions about the program, the walkthrough and FAQs are on this page:

Seems to have hidden itself when I connect to

the best way to find a removable storage device is to Right Click on Computer and select manage. After the computer management screen opens select and expand storage. Select Disk Management. You will see any device and the drive letter it is associated that is connected to your machine. Sometimes a device wants to use the same drive letter that is already in use. Most common when you have network drives mapped or recently added additional drives.

If you still can not access your USB but see it in the drives then you may need to change or set the letter. To do this right click on the drive and select change drive letter and path. You can select any available letter from d-z

My Compaq Presario SR1010NX is freaking out. The screen lettering streaks and gets jumpy. I need to find out if its the CPU or the monitor. I feel the CPR needs some sort of upgrading or replacement part...

If you want to test the monitor. plug it into another computer. Most likely its the video card on the computer and not the CPU. CPU's dont give you lettering streaks. Also try plugging your computer into a different monitor. If it is still streaking then it definitely is the video card and in that case just replace the video card.

Windows Vista Missing (D) Drive and (E) Drive?

1. Right click My computer and select Manage.
2. Click on Disk Management.
In the right hand window you should see all of your drives with their drive letter.
If you see a drive listed but without a drive letter that is likely to be your “missing” drive. To gain access try the following:
1. Right click the drive and select Change Drive Letter and Paths.
2. Click the Change button.
3. Select a Drive letter and click Ok.
Now check My Computer for the drive.
