Question about Samsung Televison & Video
The relay cuts inside the TV after swich on. Should be some short circuited component/board inside it. Check and replace it. The click sound you hear is of the clicking of the relay. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in "Timeslide" or "Flipcard" option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. You can also click the [Home] tab to see the latest updates. It will make search easy. There are more than 1350 posts to different brand TVs now. Pull up older posts there.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

The ticking noise usually comes from the power section of the tv. Usually it is a capacitor failing. As far as the cost of repair this can go either way ie cheap or expensive. It will dpend on what exactly has failed and if it requires a board replacement or just a part.
I'm going to assume this isn't under warrenty anymore. It is covered if it is. You need to get some repair estimates from Samsung and any tv repair shops. Then keep and eye out for a replacement. Make sure you include any shipping costs or other costs when you are totaling up the estimates. If it gets close to the replacement cost then you will have to choose if you want a new tv or have a repair done.

To all who are having power supply issues: Samsung is now acknowledging a problem with faulty capacitors. I called 1 800 726-7864 and they said they would repair certain out-of-warranty TVs if the problem is related to the capacitors. I just called and they are sending a service rep out to diagnose the problem

I concur with Lightnbaby.... had same problem... my TV LNT4042HX/XAA took 10 min to start sometimes... the capacitors on the power supply board had bubbles on top 4 of them all 10/1000Uf. Samsung wanted to charge $220+ to have a guy come out and fix. J&J parts (samsung vendor) wanted $108 for a new board. I replaced the 4 capacitors for $4.68 and the TV works fine now!!!!!
