Last week after 2.5 years of working normally, the HDD went into meltdown. It will not receive Sky channels unless I turn the machine off (in which case I get 30 seconds on Sky TV before the TV screen goes blank) or I push this wretched Ext Link button in which case the whole machine springs to life. Sky comes back on, it says it's recording the channel (but it isn't) and the only way to stop the machine is to press the Ext Link button because it doesn't react to anything else. I've tried pulling the plug at the mains to allow a self-reboot but that doesn't work. Any other ideas to fix would be appreciated.

Hi

Insultingly simple really - Just press the external link button on the remote (Althoughit did take me an hour to find out)

This will leave you free to enjoy this annoying piece of tech for at least a few more months before it fails completely.

Yours (I will buy a Humax next time)

Glyn.

Go to panasonic site, in support download your manual by model number. I think its "external Link" is your problem. Can't remember what you had to do - press a button or something but it is mentioned in the manual near the end under error codes.

When calls come into the office ext. 10 rings. It's the receptionist's desk. However ext. 29 rings too. How can I stop ext. 29 from ringing on all incoming calls?

Changing ringing on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
Next press the left hand intercom twice
The display should say system programming

Press the right hand intercom once. The display should say Central telephone Programming.

Enter in the extension number that you want to program.

Press the line that you want to ring.
A solid light on the line means immediate ringing
A slow flashing light means delayed ringing (meaning the phone will wait 3 rings before starting to ring.)
A fast flashing light means no ringing.

When finished with that station press the right hand intercom and enter in the next extension to program and set ringing accordingly.

Panasonic DMR-EX768 displays message EXT-L and wont let me access the guide menu or record anything. Can anyone help please.

Hopefully you will have figured this out by now but you have accidentally turned on the external link function (used to automatically record from a sky box or similar) - simply press the ext-l button on the remote (second row from the bottom of the remote, 3rd button from left) to turn it off again and everything will work normally once more.
