Question about OKI C6100n Laser Printer
Initially when C6100 stopped printing black only or black text, we would remove the black cartridge, tap a few times and replace. Print quality would return to normal and last for 2-3 weeks of home printing. After going through the this cycle 6-8 times the C6100 would not respond to the "remove, tap replace." Other colors are fine and there are no error messages; swapped the black drum/cartridge with the yellow drum/cartridge and black prints instead of yellow and no yellow. After putting the yellow in the black position, we noticed a very, very, very faint yellow text. So faint that it was not noticed at first. Any thoughts on why only the black position will not print?

SOURCE: Poor quality print
Try cleaning the LED heads. These are located in the lid and are facing you when you have raised the lid. A quick wipe with a dry cloth or tissue should help. If in doubt, check the user manual.

Check density control in COLOUR MENU is set to auto and exucute auto density in same menu, clean the led heads on the lid.
In MAINTENENCE menu you can increase paper black setting (ie+2).
If any of your non gen Toner got mixed in the new black drum then this is the real issue.
If paper has moisture in it toner doesn't stick as well, run it threw twice (first time it dries out) to confirm it is not a moisture issue

SOURCE: Oki C3100 - v poor print quality
The way to identifiy your problem is to send a full colour print to your printer and open the top just as the paper starts to come out . if you then remove your toner / drums for all the colours you can see the transfer belt if the quality of the image that you can see on the transfer belt is good and clear your problem is with the transfer form the tranferbelt to the paper and not any toner /drum issue and the most likley cause is the transfer belt itself "but before you relpace it remove it and clean around the electrical contact points and generally make sure the internals of the printer is free of loose toner .
