My Swivel Sweeper is less than a year old and is used once or twice a week in a small area. It stopped working and I called Swivel Sweeper, They said it had to be the battery. I purchased a new battery; charged it the appropriate amount of time and the sweeper still does not work. It is very clean. There is nothing caught in the brushes. It's just totally dead! Any ideas?

Re: Battery or ?
If this model is under 1 year warranty, I would suggest that you take it to a warranty repair shop or that you ask for a replacement. with a Return Material Authorization (RMA) at no further cost to you for shipping.

it is either the switch or the motor buy a brand new switch to put on it and if that does not solve the problem then the motor is just trash but the switches go out on these kinds of vacuum cleaners all of the time so that is probably the problem but if not the vacuum is trash
When you say you cleaned out brush's are you talking about the build up between the bristles? I've found that I have to take the roller completely off and use fine needle nose tweezers to actually get all the stray hairs and caked on dirt as it hides close to the inside of the brush rollers. It's a bit more work to do this but I think you might benefit from this extra step!
Possible that the drain of the mottor is exceeding the current requirement of the battery.
So check the battery for voltage and current according to the standard set, then check the vacuum motor to work from another source to determine the currrent factor to confirm if there is a mismatch or poor efficiency.
Yes you can if you have a way to cut through the plastic outer case,(I used a Dremel rotary tool). Inside you will find six double A Ni-mh batteries. I found eight of these for sale on ebay for around ten bucks, then all you do is solder some wire to the batteries like the original battery pack and tape up the case and charge.

It is literally falling apart. The sweeper has NOT been abused. Yes, we have 2 cats & a dog but the problems I am having w/ it should not be warranted. The handle has broken. The wheel/roller on the bottom of the machine has broken off & now it has just stopped working. I repeat, this vacuum has NOT been treated badly @ all. I can not be w/out a vacuum. Thank you for your help, hopefully. Debi Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The best thing to do if the vacuum is less than a year old then take it to an authorized Hoover vacuum cleaner dealer and some parts and maybe not all might be warranted The handle can be fixed and the wheel roller also can be fixed by any vacuum cleaner dealer. With pets the suggested belt change should be done every 3 to 4 months with 2 cats and a dog and the extra belts should be stored in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. If the vacuum just stopped working it could be the motor and if less than one year might be warranted. Feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area.
