Hi Andy, the carby will need to be removed and all jets cleaned out with compressed air. Basically its not getting enough fuel through the carby to keep running. Regards Phil.

Thanks Phil for your suggestion....I have cleaned out the carb and beginning to reassemble. While its apart thought I would check the fuel shut off solenoid. When 12 v is applied to the leads should the movement of the plunger be fairly noticeable or more subtle. If plunger is weak could that add to the lack of fuel supplied to the Carb?

Hi Andy, the movement should be swift and audible but travel is fairly small, say a couple of mm at most. If the plunger is not functioning this way it will definately lead to a lack of fuel. regards Phil.

SOURCE: swisher 44" mower starts and runs but engine bogs

The engine in this machine seems to be powerful. If you can remove the belt from the pulley that drives the blade. Try turning the pulley buy hand. If it turns tight or not at all this is your problem. The unit that is the pulley to blade assembly is seized or ready to seize. Sometimes they are designed to be taken apart and repaired, and sometimes they are not. Did you check for a grease fitting within the pulley to blade unit?
I would like to hear how this works out for you. Best of luck.

SOURCE: Swisher Mower dying when cutting

I've had a 60" Swisher finish cut (13.5 hp) for about 7 years and have found that the valves have to be adjusted on a VERY regular basis. When they get out of adjustment you can hear the starter trying to spin the motor but can't. I'm almost positive this is your problem. Go to You Tube to see how to adjust the valves to .004. It's simple. Stan Wilhite

Do you have to prime a fuel pump after it has been rebuilt

when you put a new fuel pump on whatever type mower you are working on,yes its good to prime it a little so that your not cranking the juice out of your battery and easier on starter.when you prime it ,myself I put the new fuel pump on,and I pull the plug out and put a little fuel in cylinder head so when it fires it pump the fuel up faster to your carb! good luck!

sounds like engine may be HYDROLOCKED from excess fuel in the cylinder, remove sparkplug and see how it spins over. be sure to ground the sparkplug as to not cause a spark resulting in a fire, PLEASE be careful.

14.5 briggs no spark

To test for spark remove ground wire from ignition module and test for spark with a proper spark tester. If you have spark the module is good and the problem lies elsewhere. No spark and the module is bad and should be replaced

Stops running after 2 minuets

Honda engines have an oil sensor that sometimes fails. It will cause this. If the sensor fails it is like not having enough oil and will kill the engine for protection. Just something to look into. Hope this helps
