No MOLEX power, or otherwise for sound cards. They power from the slot, or are integrated.

SOURCE: Hoe to install a diferent windows on a DELL

Hi perrocautivo,

Why are you trying to load it in DOS? Turn your computer on, and let it open to XP sp2. Once you done that, load the SP if that's what your using, and it should ask you if you want to upgrade it. Or, just go to HERE. and have it downloaded and upgraded for you.

Good Luck

the video card you used have a capability for dual monitor..so 1st thing that you need to do is to make sure that the computer recognized the 2nd monitor and activate dual monitor capability on the nvidia panel..after that on your tv select the proper source(like VGA, HDMI1 etc.) on which you'll be able to see the the video from the computer to your TV..

SOURCE: no spare molex power plugs for sound card in imedia s3810

No problem!

Use an adapter power cable, and have two 4-pin standard Peripheral power cables.

http://www.directron.com/cbl-y.html

NOW, I hope your Power Supply will handle the additional load.
(It should. You just have to try it, and see)

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

Cant connect to wireless on dell laptop xps M170

First of all make sure that there is a wireles adapter on your laptop.
There are some XPS M170 Models without one.
If you have one, we can try to solve the problem?
1. Make sure that the driver of the Wifi adapter and the Chipset are propertly installed. Try to download the newest driver from the dell web site accordng your os
2. If there is a third party conection software like Conection manager or else, deinstall it an let windows manage your networks
Hope this helps you. I will need a screenshot and some further descriptions in order to solve the problem if the 2 solutions above dont help.

My power button cable is missing so i plug into the wall pc starts up no noise but fan amber light but black screen graphics card fine?

Dont worry about on/off cable. if you have restart / reset button, remove that cable from motherboard and insert it in power on pins and use reset button as on/off switch.

Problem with lan in dell ispiron 6400. When I put in lan wire it shows that cable is not conected. Cable is ok, I tried few. When I look on the conection window sometimes it flashes for less than one...

Inspect the pins inside the network connector. They have to be even and stright. Sometimes people put there a phone cord connector and it bends pins 1, 2, 7 and 8. To recover use a needle with slightly bended tip. Hook the pin with the bended tip and pul until strightened.

My Dell XPS 420 will not turn on. Power light

Hey! Nice Computer! ( At least while it was working! Specifications show some high-end hardware parts)

Steady amber light on the Power On light, means a bad power supply.

The Dell XPS 420 uses the standard ATX style of power supply found in 90% of computers out there.
(Personal computers. Not the Cray Supercomputers!)

This is Dell Support, and the User Manual - Removing and Replacing Parts - part of the manual,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xps420/en/OM/HTML/parts.htm#wp1466871

From Me:

1) Computer unplugged from power, computer case open. TOUCH the metal frame BEFORE you reach inside.
Your body carries Static electricity.
Static will fry out computer hardware components.
You won't see it, or feel it.

Computer unplugged from power, you are safe.
Touch the metal frame Before reaching inside, your computer is safe.

Should you get up for any reason, walk away, then return, Touch the metal frame again)

You either have a 375 Watt, or a 425 Watt power supply.
I would recommend a power supply with more Wattage, and more Amp's on the 12 Volt power rail.

The Dell XPS 420 comes with an Intel Core2 Duo processor, or an Intel Core2 Extreme processor.

These puppy's can use a lot of power when gamin', or other intense programs are being used.

The Nvidia GeForce 8800 Series of graphics cards offered, use a lot of power when maxed out.

The motherboard with the Intel X38 motherboard chipset, uses a lot of power.

I would recommend a 600 watt power supply for a replacement.

My recommendation would be an OCZ StealthXStream 600W

Why?

1) If the temperature of this PSU is kept under 118 degrees Fahrenheit, the PSU can put out 728.8 Watts reliably. (47.9 degrees Celsuis)

2) It has Four - 12 Volt power rails.
EACH power rail can handle 18 Amps.
That's a total of 72 Amps!

3) It has all the power cables you'll need.

A) 20 + 4-pin ATX motherboard power cable
B) 8-pin 12 Volt power cable (8-pin EPS)
C) 4-pin ATX power cable
D) SATA power cables [ 3 ]
E) Peripheral power cables, (4-pin Molex) [ 6 ]
F) 6-pin PCI power cables. [ 2 ]

How do i install dvd rewriter with windows 7. There are different conections at the rear of the factory fit DVD...?

You generally only need 2 connections for an optical drive to work: Data and Power. Data will be either IDE (long 40 pin ribbon cable) or SATA (small [~1/2"] 'L' shaped connection for a much thinner ribbon cable).
Power will be either Molex (4-pin connector with red, black, black, yellow wires) or a SATA power connector that looks like a larger version of the SATA data connector).

All other connections are not needed, such as the small 4 pin audio connection which usually hooks up to the motherboard or sound card, but is only needed for analog playback of audio disks.
