Upo insertion of dvd disk, the screen begins rolling. How to stop
In trying to correct the screen size, the screen began rolling. I am unable to stop the roll. TV is o.k., so I might have inadvertantly pressed the wrong button on the remote. How do I get back a stable screen? Many thanks..MS

Re: Upo insertion of dvd disk, the screen begins rolling....
first leave the tv 5hr sleep and try a hard reset.it would definitely works it is the common solution..
if not MAIN BOARD IS MALFUNCTIONING...THERE ARE TWO MAIN BOARDS FOR THIS TV...IF S/N STARTS WITH W2702..USE P/N 5600110351...IF S/N STARTS WITH W2751..USE P/N 5600110493...PART SHOULD BE WARRANTIED FOR AT LEAST I YEAR...LOOK AT YOUR RECEIPT..

Symptom: Unit will not power up at all. Power indicator doesn't work. or after inserting disk, screen says "loading disk" but then says "bad disk". Solution: This problem is usually caused by a bad 5Volt power supply. Check the 5V output of the power supply board. The output plug is clearly marked. If this 5V is less than 4V, the unit will not operate. This is caused by defective filter capacitors in the 5V supply. These caps are easily identified. Replace these two with the same values and the 5V should return to normal. Note: Because of the confined spaces on the board, only use caps that are of the same physical size. Capacitors are made in a varity of hights and diameters with the same electrical specifications. Do not try to pigtail a larger cap in circuit. The circuit will not work correctly. I can supply these if you can not find them locally.
My dark Knight DVD was only playing the first 4 screens and I burned the firmware upgrade to a CD. It took about 20 minutes from the time I inserted it for it to be complete, then it stopped at 4 again but took about 30 seconds and it began to play perfect.
As i recall, +r's will only format in dvd vr, the unit does not like high speed recording disks. switch to dvd drive - insert blank disk - if no format screen - goto (on remote) setup - onscreen menu - system setup - disc setup - new disk format - hit center button in ring on remote to change to vr or move up to reformat as vr. once disk is formatted, use record speed button on remote to set record speed 1,2,4,6 hr then switch to tape deck with tape in and stopped at begining, on remote hit dubbing, it will ask you confirm dubbing vhs-dvd .... toggle over to yes & hit center button... away you should go... c245 is a copyguarded tape.
Try different brands of disk, most dvd-r recorder are disk sensitive, buy only one disk per brand, find the brand compatible to your recorder by just inserting the disk and wait for confirmation that it is ready for recording session. I have tried around five brands, sony and maxell as well as verbatim are good dvd-r disk.
What you're describing is a common problem for this particular unit, a bad spindle motor.
In some cases the motor can be removed by the tech and torn down for cleaning.. But in a high percentage of cases shops just replace the motor...
What's happening, as your symptom appears the spindle motor is beginning to spin irratically. In turn the picture can sometimes just drop out. In others it simply folds over and is unwatchable.
The spindle motor is not too expensive..
