Question about Heating & Cooling
I have an ebac 2200e, the unit turns on and the compressor runs but the fan does not spin, the compressor gets hot and the unit turns itself off until it cools down and then the compressor starts up again, does anyone know wether it could be the fan thats inoperative or the pcb board and if these parts can be purchased anywhere ?.

SOURCE: compressor wont start
It is probably a failed run capacitor for the compressor. Without the capacitor, the motor can't even try to run, but it will draw extreamly high amperage until it trips the thermal overload (avarage trip time 5-10sec) after it has a few second for the safety to cool off, it will try again. Either that or the compressor truly is seized

are you speaking of the outside fan or inside? compressor should be a little warm but not boiling hot. the unit could be low on freon. if low it will run a while but the compressor will overheat and shut off leaving the fan running by itself ouside. if nothing outside is running check power. if you have power check the contacted outside to make sure it's pulled in. contacters are bad about going out on goodman untis. Also ants can get under contacts.

be aware that not repairing this asap that you are causing yourself more problems First I would change out the fan capacitor and see if this could be the problem. Secondly if the capacitor isn,t the problem change out the motor . By continuing to allow the system to cycle like this the compressor will take a dive on you costing more . Good Luck

Testimonial: "Yes, it's dual run capacitor problem. I used a stick to spin the fan blades and it starts to slowly spin and up to normal speed, so motor is good."
