Chrysler Alternator question: Can I replace my 2008 Chrysler Sebring alternator with a reman foreign made one?

I was told it had to be from Chrysler (much more $) because the voltage regulator may not be compatable with the computer systems.

You don't need to buy from dealer as long as remanufactured alternator has same volts

Did a 2001 Chrysler Seabring 2.7L Remove right hand lower splash shield under the vehicle. Loosen the belt tensioner which will be two 13mm bolts. Discharge the A/C system. disconnect wiring from alternator and remove the three bolts from the alternor. Once the alternator is disconnected from the engine remove the low side A/C line from the A/C compressor and the alternator will come out through the top. It will be tight but it will come out

2002 chrysler sebring 2.7 v6 elictrical problem???

Sounds like a charging system issue. Just because the alternator itself tested fine doesn't mean it's getting power to the car and battery. Charge the battery and start the car (with everything connected normally, including alternator). While car is idling, disconnect the battery (negative post wI'll do). If car dies, there's a problem with the alternator wiring/harness. Once the vehicle is running, the alternator should provide plenty of power. Check voltage at battery (from alternator) and should be around 14V. Check alternator fuse.
Could be the voltage regulator in the alternator going out, which would need a new alternator.
