Left side of keypad doesn't work. I tried turning off, and back on, but no good. I tried taking sim card out, and back in, but no change. The main problem I now have is I cannot unlock my phone because the some of the pin # are keys that dont work. The phone wasn't dropped. Also I noticed that of the external buttons, on the left side the large button still works, but the small one below it doesn't - eg: I can see what ring setting I have, but I can't change it.

Though it may sound simple, there are a few tricks to try first.
Turn off your phone, pull out the battery and SIM card. Check your SIM contacts (little gold pieces on the bottom of the card) Are they clean? If not, wipe it off with a soft cloth. Now place the SIM card and battery back in and turn your phone back on. I worked for AT&T customer service for a good long while and this is the very first thing they will request you to do.
Attempt to make a call - If it still doesn't work, you're going to need to call AT&T customer service as they have tools to push settings and much more. Generally if your phone is acting up it's because you've left it on 24/7 and it just needs a reboot.
Take out the battery....then put it back in. Do not try to turn on the phone yet. Next plug the phone up to charge. Wait until the charging screen appears and then power the phone. Worked for me.....good luck.
I too have had the "no sim card installed message. What has always worked for me is to go into settings and put the phone into airplane mode for about ten seconds and then switch back to regular mode which causes the phone to reconnect to the ATT network. The sim message goes away. This is also a good fix for when your phone isn't connecting to 3G or showing an "E" instead of 3G.
remove the battery at the back, remove your sim card,
use a tiny flat screwdriver, carefully remove the back cover by using a small phillp screwdriver, take the bck cover off, use the flat tiny screwdriver, easy remove upward to you, U will see a small silver plate on the side, as soon as U remove the plate,
your keypad will come off, unplug the little white plug off the mainboard, and put the white plug back in, put everything back like the way before, insert your battery, sim card, now turn your phone on, should work normal...
Hey, I have or should I say I had the same problem with my v6 maxx keypad not working. So I started to look into the flex cable replacement idea. I remove the back cover. Removed the Sim Card, Battery and Memory card fully intending to split the phone and have a look around inside. But then I came to a grinding stop when I saw how small the hex screws are. Gotta get me some of those. While I was there staring at the screws I noticed a small amount of dirt residue inside the back of the phone so figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a spray with CRC Contact Cleaner (it leaves no residue). I left the mobile in the sun to dry for about 3 minutes. Replaced the battery, memory and sim card and now it's working PERFECTLY. Done. fixed. *** twas just dirt. Cheers roddarockker
