Question about Refrigerators

Reverse doors freezer hinge

After reversing my fridge doors, the hinge under the freezer door sits up too high, causing the freezer door to sit up 1/4 inch + on the hinge side. The freezer door is snug to the hinge. The space is between the hinge and the fridge door. It looks to me like the holes for the hinge were drilled too high. Thoughts?

SOURCE: GE Profile leaking onto floor

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section behind the cover underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

SAFELY REMOVING DOORS FOR SHIPPING

Good Morning Jill,

I see that you are trying to remove the doors on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS23R4A, for shipping purposes. Below are the instructions you will need to follow for both the refrigerator and freezer doors.

DOOR REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS:
If it is necessary to move the refrigerator through narrow doorways, follow these steps to remove the doors.
IMPORTANT: Before you begin, turn your freezer and fresh food controls to "O" and remove electrical power cord from the wall outlet. Remove any food from the door shelves.

1. Disconnect electrical supply.
2. Open both doors, then remove toe grille.
3. Close doors.

To Remove Refrigerator Door:

1. Remove top hinge cover screw on refrigerator door and remove cover.
2. Trace around hinge with soft lead pencil. This will make it easier to realign doors when they are replaced.
3. Remove top hinge and lift refrigerator door off bottom hinge pin. Set door aside.
4. Remove bottom hinge, if necessary.
5. Reverse this procedure to reinstall refrigerator door.

To Remove Freezer Door:

1. Disconnect water line coming from lower hinge of freezer door at connection located under front of freezer: Press outer ring against face of fitting, then pull to remove tube.
2. Remove top hinge cover screw on freezer door and remove cover.
3. Disconnect wiring harness connector plug at top hinge: place your thumbs on flat sides of each connector and bend both parts back and forth, then with firm grasp, pull both pieces apart.
4. Trace around hinge with soft lead pencil. This will make it easier to realign doors when they are replaced.
5. Remove top hinge, allowing wiring harness to pull through hinge and lift freezer door off of bottom hinge pin. Lay door down flat to avoid kinking water line.
6. Remove bottom hinge, if necessary.
7. Reverse this procedure to reinstall freezer door.

When both doors have been reinstalled, connect water line by inserting tube and push until mark touches face of fitting, replace toe grille and plug in electrical power cord. Turn both temperature controls to center position. Adjust settings as necessary. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

I have whirlpool A CLASS fridge how do i reverse the door

  • I cannot confirm weather your fridge had reversible doors as you listed no model but the standard for fridges that can reverse the door swing are changed by doing this -
  1. You will see little plastic covers on the opposite side where the hinges and handles are currently located now.
  2. There are some little clips that hinge the screws on the top and bottom of each handle.
  3. Remove these little covers with a small flathead screwdriver.
  4. Now remove the screws holding the freezer and refrigerator handles on.
  5. Now pop the screw hole covers on the side of the frig/freezer you will using.
  6. Now place and fasten with screws the handles on the other side of the frig/freezer door.
  7. Now remove the top freezer hinge first by removing the 3 screws on top.
  8. Now pull up on the hinge (save the spacer).
  9. Now pull up on the freezer door.
  10. Now remove the screws on the middle hinge.
  11. Now pull up and remove the middle hinge while holding the frig door steady (save the spacer).
  12. Now pull up on the frig door and set to the side.
  13. Now remove the screws on the bottom hinge (save the spacer).
  14. Now put the screw hole covers you removed from the other side in the screw hole exposed from the screws you just removed.
  • The switch
  1. Start with the bottom hinge and place it on the opposite side (don't forget the spacer).
  2. Place the frig door on the bottom hinge and the place the middle hinge in the hole at the top of the frig door.
  3. Fasten the middle hinge.
  4. Place freezer door on the middle hinge.
  5. Put the freezer door in it's natural position to make putting the top hinge on possible.
  6. Screw the top hinge in.
  7. Job complete.
Regards, Tony

How to remove doors of a whirlpool 6vmw47 top mount fridge/freezer

Hello Hicherringto,

I understand that you would like instructions on how to remove the doors on your fridge. Most common on top mount freezers/fridges you need to start at the top and work your way down.

1. Locate the freezer hinge top part where the door swings.
2. Remove the plastic cover over the henge. (top of the box if covered)
3. Remove the screws holding the henge in place.
4. Lift up on the henge
5. Open the freezer door and lift up (the door should lift off the bottom pin)
6. Open the Fridge door and remove the screws from the hinge that the freezer door sat on
7. Remove the hinge from the fridge door by lifting up
8. Open and lift up on the fridge door
9.Reinstall in reverse

That is the easiest way to remove the doors on a top mount freezer fridge. Note that when you reinstall the doors you will have to adjust the hinges so that the seals seal properly. The hinges have enough of a grove that you use them to adjust the doors.

Thank you for choosing FIxYa.com

Features list reversible door swing. Can this be done on site or does it need to be done at the factory? We are being charged for a second delivery because the fridge came with the dorr swinging the wrong...

This should be able to be done on site. If you look at the top of the fridge, on the opposite corner from where your hinge is currently located, you should see some sort of plug(s) that covers the screw holes that are used for changing the hinge between left and right. The same thing on the bottom face of the fridge body. You will see the screw holes to change the bottom hinge side as well. The doors themselves should also have plugs that cover where they sit on the hinges when the door opening direction is changed. I've not done it with model of fridge before, but I have with many others (installed them for a living when I was younger) and it should be a very simple DIY job providing there aren't any water tubes for the ice maker going into the door. Even then, with a bit of patience you should be able to do it rather than be charged for such a simple thing.

Hope this helps!

Since reversing doors on my f 220 e fridge freezer it now keeps icing up why is this

the only reAll reason, for this might be that when you reversered the doors you did not reseat the door gsaskets,
take a dollar bill and place it in the door go around the entire edge, make sure the gaskets are sitting properly, often when reversered the gasket have pinches that can and will allow hot humid air into a running unit.
if you do find a spot that the gaskt is just not sitting right,, most common is the corner of the new hinge
if its the production run im thinking of, check the freezer door top
anyway try warming it up witha hair dryer it will soften the gasket,,, and hopefullly allow it to reseat

We have a fridge/freezer, upright bought some 15 years ago. Works fine, but we wish to reverse the doors to right opening from left. Please advise how to do it.

if you can notice that the doors have plastic plugs to the other side of the hinge then it is design to be reversible.

but if there is no indication that you can transfer the hinge to the other side of the door, then it is not designed to be reversible and there is nothing you can do about it.

i'm not sure if the old fridge are designed to be reversible.

tnx 4 using fixya,
