Problem can be dry / cold solder joints in horizontal deflection area, specially near fly-back transformer.
Please look for cold/ dry solder joints on main board and you will notice them as solder on these joint does not look shiny. Resold them all if you have good soldering skills.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, 2 of several possibilities:

  • horizontal collapse (least likely);
  • vertical collapse (most likely).
If a DIY (do-it-yourself) is ebing considered, this of course would require opening the unit, perform voltage measurements, determine faulty component and subsequent part(s) replacement. Further, a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron would be required. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY, perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

the G board have also the problem. How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).

1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board

You can buy the parts online and fix if yourself!!

tV which turns on and flashes the Astar logo before the screen shuts down (Green power light stays on). From what i understand this is generally caused by low grade parts and to much heat. I dont know if you have gotten close to the TV while it is running but it gets extremely hot. The main issus with this is it causes the Capacitors to blow. there are about 20 of them and they generally sell for about $1.25 - $6 each online. If you have any experience soldering i have read about other people performing the fix themselves. I dont so i am currently looking into the cost to have them replaced by a professional. I will try and post what i find out.

Did you check the fuse in tv ?

There is chance of loose connections and cold solder joints which are easily diagnosed by giving the set a whack with your hand .

That is a problem with the power supply board or a bad deflection yoke, this if the tv is a CRT.

Connecting direct tv todvr to a2005 20 inchrca sdtv channel code

1. Using Programming Codes

Find the TV code for your TV in the list from the Platinum Remote Control User's Guide (See References). For example, if you have a Kenwood TV, the three possible codes to try are 506, 573 and 712.

Press the "TV" button on the remote. Hold down the button until the "Sat," "VCR" and "Aux" buttons light up. Release the "TV" button and it will be flashing.

Enter the first code using the keypad. If you want the remote to control all functions on the TV, enter the code and press the # key. The "TV" button will flash three times.

Press the power button to turn off the TV and turn it back on again. If the code was correct, the TV will turn off and on. If the TV doesn't power down or back on, follow Step 6.

Try the next code from the list. Follow Steps 2 through 4 using each code until one turns off the TV.
2. Programming Without Codes

Press the "TV" button on the remote. Hold down the button until the "Sat," "VCR" and "Aux" buttons light up. Release the "TV" button and it will be flashing.

Press and release the "Power" button on the remote.

Press the arrow up key and stop. If the TV doesn't turn off, press the arrow up key again. Continue pressing the arrow up key until the TV turns off. Do not go fast when moving through the codes or you could miss the correct code. Press the arrow key and wait at least 20 seconds to see if the code works before pressing the arrow key again.

Press the # key on the remote when the TV turns off to lock in the code.

21PT3324/71 Philips TV wont stay on

Try this: On the flyback transformer, raise the SCREEN voltage. There are 2 controld on the flyback - the top one is FOCUS and the bottom one is SCREEN. As the tube ages its emission decreases, and the computer monitors the tube's emission. When the emission gets to be too low, the computer shuts the set down. This is exactly like IK blanking in Sony sets, except Sony blanks the video and Philips shuts the set off. To set the screen voltage properly, turn the brightness and contrast to 0, raise the screen voltage until you see the white retrace lines in the picture, and then back down on the screen voltage until just past the point where the retrace lines are gone. Reset your brightness and contrast and the set should play fine.
