You can try a little silicon spray, Mind the over spray, perhaps spray on a Q tip and let it run into the area around the button OR disassemble the laptop and clean.

The yellow light comes on inside but the computer won't come on neither does it beep?

First remove any power cables and batteries(if laptop) from your system and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.

Plug the power cable back in & attempt to boot.
If this does not solve your problem then you will need to remove all non-essentials from your system.

If laptop, this simply consist of battery, ram, optical drive & any other removable bays or devices. Unplug all cables except the power cable & attempt to boot.

If desktop, you will need to remove any cables plugged into your computer except keyboard, mouse, power, video, sound, & network cable. Open the case & remove any PCI cards, except video cards, unless you have on-board video, unplug the data & power cables going to the optical & hard drives. Now attempt to boot. If you have no luck you can remove your RAM sticks & try again. If you get an error beep warning you about no ram then you might have a bad ram stick. If none of the above works then you may have a bad power supply or motherboard. Power supplies are pretty easy to test with tester or use a spare.

IPad shows blank black screen & won't turn off ~ how do I fix?

Try reseting the iPad by holding the home and power buttons simultaneously until the iPad completely shuts down and the Apple logo appears.

Once the Apple logo appears you can release the buttons. If this does not work, you may need to connect your iPad to your computer and do a factory restore using iTunes.

My hp pavilion won't start up. The harddrive spins and the fan is on but the screen is blank

It could be a RAM issue. Try removing the RAM stick(s). Inspect it as best as you can. If there is more than one, only put one back in. Be triple sure it seats properly and firmly. Now turn on the computer.

If you still don't get a picture, take that RAM stick back out and try a different one. If one is all you have, then try a different RAM port (if your computer is equipped with another port). In other words, pull that RAM stick back out and insert it into the other port. If still no picture, and you only had one RAM stick -- either that RAM stick is bad, or your problem is not RAM related. At least at that point you will have ruled something else out. And at this point, your computer needs to go geek-hands-on. I hope this is helpful to you. If so, please take a sec to rate me. Thanks!

My Shuttle Barebone K48 will not even power on.

Try to run it with only one stick of memory in at a time. If the memory doesn't work the computer won't even go into the POST. It only takes one failed stick to stop a computer.

Pc turns it self on by it's self

Make sure the power button isn't sticking at all. If it is sticking then use some glass cleaner on a cotton swab and clean around the button.
Try plugging the computer directly into a wall outlet instead of a surge protector or power strip to rule out a faulty product.
If the same thing keeps happening then you'll need to replace the power supply.

When the laptop is turned on, the screen rolls & flickers. I can press on the sides & it stops.

Hello collensdrea,
Welcome to!
Sorry to hear what's happening to your laptop. I would lke to ask you to follow a few steps to check and see if this is a faulty display or not. Please follow the following steps:
1. Turn the laptop off 2. Unplug the AC adapter (if connected) and remove the battery 3. Press & hold the power button for 40 seconds w/o the battery installed or the AC adapter plugged in 4. Let go of the power button, reconnect the AC adapter and put the battery aside for the meantime 5. Turn the laptop on by pressing the power button and the second you turn the laptop on, tap F2 several times to load the laptop's BIOS.
What is a BIOS? This is a special screen that let's you make changes to your laptop's motherboard. Please do not wander around as it may cause the more problems if you are not sure of what you are doing.
The reason why we went here is to see if we can still recreate the same issue i.e. the screen rolls & flickers.
If it still rolls & flickers, I'm afraid you need to contact Acer to have your computer sent to Depot or serviced.

Hi the button you push in has there any other way i can turn on the computer.thanks

Easyest way to do it it to open the computer case, cut the wires going to the Power button, remowe the plastic around it on a small length, there should be three wires, then stick two of them together, just try the different combination, this will start the computer.
And don't worry this can't harm the computer, Basically you are doing by hand what the Power button was doing.

Hope this helps.
