you will notice small holes around your burner. Look at the burners holes next to your spark igniter. A paper clip will fit perfectly into the small hole to clean them. This is very common, boil overs clog these holes with debris and does not allow gas flow to ignite properly.

Hello,

FOR THE OVEN NOT HEATING

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake igniter is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve. If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake igniter(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of igniter make sure only one wire, either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake igniter. I know it seems improbable that if the igniter comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven, have found when the igniter comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak igniter is the cause 100% of the time

FOR THE SURFACE BURNER NOT LIGHTING The holes on the burner espically those around where the electrode are dirty/clogged. By using a paper clip/safety pin to push in and clear the holes then clean the burner up with some steel wool the burner should light. GENE

The burners need to be completely clean, unplug any holes near the igniter pilot
then adjust the opening near the knob. The most important, you have a nut that you turn with a rench
the adjustment of gas and air.

First, for those of you who might not know, "What is a flame sensor?" A flame sensor is a safety device. When your furnace's main burners ignite (light Up) the flame sensor picks up the heat from the furnace's main burning and says, "YES," and sends a signal back to the main furnace control board saying that it is OK to let the main burner stay on. Or if the main burners do not ignite, the flame sensor does not pick up the heat and says, "NO" to the main control board, Shut That Gas Valve and Main Burners Down! Thank God we have safety controls like the flame sensor. Most of the time, after turning your furnace's power off, you may clean the flame sensors with light sand cloth, emery cloth or steel wool. Reinstall the flame sensor and you are back in business! Over the years flame sensors can build up a light coating of burned-in dust and dirt. This insulates the flame sensor so that it doesn't sense the heat of the flame well enough, by cleaning it you have almost restored it to its new condition.
Seldom, but sometimes they do go out completely.

The back burner doesnt consistently light up.

If the flame doesn't go completely around the burner, ther is an obstruction at the outlet holes. Make sure all outlet are clear of dirt, rust,or any material. Even water will block the outlets.

Gas Dryer. Heat for only one burn cycle.

Try vacuuming out the intake and exhaust of the burner to remove any lint or other debris. If no help, the main burner may need to be replaced.

Gas burners will not ignite ater cleaning stove top

hi friend,
On stove top burners that have sparklers that are not visible at the burner head, the burner heads have ignition ports. If the sparklers are functioning and the burners won't lite, chances are the ignition ports are clogged or restricted.

Ignition ports are tiny holes up one side of the burner head. If these holes are restricted, they must be cleared out. Cleaning can be accomplished using one of three methods.

Most commonly, a large sewing straight pin needle can be used. DO NOT enlarge the ignition holes. Doing so will have adverse burner lighting effects.

Burner heads where the flames will not burn completely around the entire circumference of the burner head, the holes which do not have flames are clogged up and need cleaning.

In cases of extremely dirty burner heads, soaking the burners in very hot water with plenty of dissolved automatic dishwasher detergent for several hours, rinsing and drying or a combination of both methods for heavily soiled burners.
hope this helps u

Electronic ignition works, but the gas does not come on

The most common problem for gas surface burners is that they get gas but don't light. This is generally caused by dirt or grease splatters on the burner itself. Residential-grade range/stove burners are round and have small holes around their perimeter to allow gas to flow out and create a round flame. The gas coming from these holes is often ignited by a small vertical row of holes on the side of the burner. If these vertical holes are clogged or obstructed, the gas can't ignite.

The solution is to clean the burners thoroughly. Use a toothpick to clear the small vertical holes, then allow the burner to dry completely and try lighting it again. If it doesn't light immediately, either repeat the procedure or call a qualified appliance repair technician.
