Question about Televison & Video
I have a Sony KDL-46V5100, when I turn the power on the BRAVIA flash screen comes up and then the screen is black. The green power light is on, but no other lights show up or flash. No menus will come up. Installed update and got TV back - scanned for channels - OK, but when tried to change thru channels, picture blacked out & tv died. Reinstalled update - got tv back, scanned channels and when tried to go to same channel - tv died. Reinstalled software, scanned channels - leaving TV on 1 channel - working OK. Afraid to change channels. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

SOURCE: Sony kdl-26m4000 LCD TV. While
The processor of the tv locks up because it suddenly becomes incapable of correctly processing the signal data - it crashes.
Since this is an intermittent problem that appears when a big spike in power is required from the source that means that the problem is caused by a dip in the voltage powering the processor - the power source has aged and it's no longer capable of delivering a steady supply.
You must open the tv, locate the power source and refurbish it: start by replacing all capacitors, then check the rectifiers, then the zenner diodes and finally the stabilizers.
